Default Eeek! next Freestyle competition is coming up quick

And I'm worried!!!! I don't feel like we are ready and it's only three weeks away... that time is going to fly by so fast! I really had a hard time deciding if we wanted to enter this time because I knew we're not as prepared as we usually are for competition, but also, with so much going on recently with our kitties and other things, I just didn't know if I wanted to add that emotional strain on top of it. But, I keep trying to tell myself that the world won't end if we suck...

Wonka and I are dancing to "Oh Boy" by Buddy Holly. I picked out the song quite a while ago, but all I've really done for choreography is modify our old "Rock this Town" routine because Wonka liked that routine. The biggest problem I'm having right now is that the song repeats the chorus so many times and it's hard to know exactly when the ending is coming. Plus, I never put as much time in as I should have for weaning Wonka off of treats. So, wish us luck as we buckle down and try to get ready.... it feels like cramming for school finals!!

It's supposed to be fun! Don't stress out over it--Wonka just knows he is spending fun time with his mama and what's better than that?

I agree, it's supposed to be fun. Treat it as a rehearsal for the next competition, getting you both up to speed.

    Good luck, enjoy!

Yes, it is supposed to be fun!! But I still get so nervous about being in front of an audience and being judged... sometimes it's hard to remember to just have fun and forget about the scores. I like the idea of thinking of it as a "dress rehearsal." Thank you!
In Freestyle competitions they offer a non-scoring category called "Innovation" where people can try out new routines or just get the feel for the ring, audience, etc. without the actual stress of being judged and trying to qualify. Plus, it's half price and that's an added bonus. I thought about entering "Innovation" this time around ... but I figured that if I'm making the 2 hour drive (each way) and spending money to enter, stay over night, etc. then I might as well go ahead and enter for a score - just in case we actually do OK! We need at least an 8.0 on both Technical and Artistic to qualify and finish off this title.

    I loved the routine!!!!!!

Just remember, he's a pug.....and it's amazing if he doesn't screw up at least once!!! People almost expect it!!!

You did great.....and you've had a few more weeks to improve on the few areas that needed work!!!

    You'll knock them dead!
