    Jamie,

It really depends on the dog, the trainer and your expectations. As long as you're not the sort of person (I already know you're not ) who will only be happy if you qualify and possibly place, I'd say it can be done in 6 months...most are ready to run "jumpers with weaves" courses even sooner...maybe 4 months if you work at everyday and already have a solid foundation.

If you're thinking about nationals...Go for it! It's a tiny trial. Abby's going to be just a bit too young, if she were old enough, I'd enter her in a heartbeat, even if we had to run past certain obstacles.

I was thinking about trying to get Nixon ready in time for Nationals!! I think I may go for it, assuming I can get into some lessons relatively soon. Thanks for your advice!! Now I need to go read about the different levels, etc. :0)

I have a question on this too. Jill has been doing agility for about 1 1/2, I want to try a compition but nothing to serous or anything she is only on level 2 in classes. She doesnt even know how to weave yet (she is getting there) I dont know why but they teach weaves last for some stupid reason.

You'll get measured at your first trial, AKC sends it for you, and you'll get your official height card in the mail a few weeks later. You'll just need to be measured every time until you have a height card. Just measure them yourselves so that you know what height to enter. Most pugs end up jumping 12" reg or 8" preferred.
