    Default Flyball

Does any do flyball with their pugs? I've always been curious, the dogs definitely look they're having a GREAT time. Some people have been urging me to join their club, since my pugs already know how to jump, love tennis balls....and they're short so they would be great height dogs!

I've heard there can be some issues with other dogs jumping lanes...anyone have any feedback on this? The last thing I want is for my guys to get hurt/attacked by some lunatic jack russel. Do you think it's any harder on their joints than agility?

    Jesse:

I had thought about trying it out with my Boston Terrier Bean. I think that he would love something like this! I have only seen it once....we have a club here that does it and I should go some day and watch! I don't think I have ever seen a pug do it...they are to la-de-da for fly ball...LOL

Sarina, You haven't met my crew yet. The normally sedate Kittie goes banannas when she sees a tennis ball. She becomes "spring loaded" and just bounces and bounces until you throw it again, and again, and again. I have to be careful because she does not know when to stop!

Warning if you go to watch, it's LOUD, really loud. I don't know what it is, but all of these dogs are just barking hysterically the entire time.

Izzy would do anything for a tennis ball. We have to use the mini pug sized ones though. She can't get her mouth around the regular size.
We give dogs time we can spare, space we can spare and love we can spare.
And in return, dogs give us their all.

Alice, they use small ones for the little guys. I can just see my pugs trying to jump with a regular sized tennis ball in their mouths.

Cyril LOVES his miniature tennis balls...goes nuts when I pick one up. But I DO know some pugs that are able to manage with a full sized one!

We saw a flyball demonstration at the last NBA game we went to. And yes - there was a PUG on one of the teams! It was hugely popular - everyone was watching and cheering for the dogs.

I would love to see pugs do flyball!

Clancy has a full sized tennis ball and he loves it! Molly can only handle the mini size.

Hi. Nixon has taken flyball classes and loves it! But, during class and a few matches we went to, I did see dogs crossing their lanes to go after the dog in the next lane that had the tennis ball. I have heard horror stories about dogs running into each other head on and becoming seriously hurt. And, I have heard of dogs getting mauled by other dogs that want the ball. The dogs get a bit too revved up for me, which makes me worry that all thinking goes out the window. Again, Nixon thought it was great fun, but after much consideration, I decided it wasn't worth the possibility of him getting hurt to continue training in that venue. JMHO.....
