I hate to see you take a deduction just because of the space thing.Could you maybe use and 8-count to travel then dance for a while, then use another 8-count to travel then dance for a while? While travelling, I'm thinking maybe work in some flick kicks or something for you (or whatever they're called-- I'm not a dancer) and maybe some spins for Wonka. Or if he's getting REALLY good at weaves quickly, maybe even incorporate flick kicks with him weaving.

Good luck!
I agree that covering some more ground might be good IF you can get in a few leg weaves or something fairly easily.
But it might be unwise to try to put in any major changes now, as there is not a great deal of time to practise them.

The whole competition will be filmed, but I don't know when competitors will get that. I may have my DH video my routine just so I have it more quickly.
I do have one portion in the middle of the routine where we do a very large figure 8 around the whole ring and he's supposed to be doing spins during that. It's more important that he stick with me though so we usually only get 2-3 spins in during that portion. I also do weaves out to one corner, a side-pass toward the next corner and then weaves back to the middle. I'm hoping that is enough for the judges, but I know that I'm really only quickly walking through two of the corners during that figure 8. I'm going to think about it and see if I can 'stretch' things out, but I really can't make major changes at this point - I wouldn't remember the steps and would fail to signal Wonka properly.

Wonka will do great in the competition... I think we should all petition Wonka's way on to "Dancing with the Stars" next season... I'm sure he'd be a favorite...

Hee Hee. And who would be his professional partner? 'cause I dont think I qualify! In Freestlye, it's generally considered that the human (regardless of gender) is the "Man" in the dance because their job is to lead and frame their partner. Does that mean Wonka would get to dance with Derek or Maks or Mark?
When I watch Dancing with the Stars I'm looking at arm/hand motions, traveling steps and partnering to see how I can modify it to use in dog dancing. I've recorded a lot of my favorite Jive routines to re-watch when I want inspiration.
