I feed Royal Canin for the bulldogs but the pugs are on a diet food from the vet. Royal Canin is great and my bulldogs are slender..love the food but for the pugs the vet suggested a diet food instead.
if you write them an email at royal canin and them put a pic of your dog on their board ..they will send you a free coupon off your next bag. think it was 5.00 or 10.00 for the bulldogs

I for one saw big results in the bulldogs here. no skin issues since they have been on royal canin and they were on good quality food before I changed. I am convinced for the bulldogs anyhow. their weight is good, there skin is healthier and they are much softer.

my vet told me to leave then on it...although they did say there was other better quality dog food out there...but if it worked..for mine..leave them on it.

on the topic of food in general for dogs. I had the longest living boston terrier in the world that had to be pts at 19 and half years old...she was super fussy and only ate kennel ration for all the years that I had her..**** dogfood. she did really well I would say more as a result of her genetics and breeding. just my thoughts on things..

If I can't eat it neither can my puggies. They get no sugar, no salt but lots of sprinkles, herbs and such. One portion protien, one small amount of brown rice, peas and carrots, homemade dog cookies and lots of water. The vet (we've seen her twice) always asks what they eat. She laughs and says it's just fine.

Just another warning not to rely on vets for nutrition advice. Most of them are woefully ignorant about it. The first thing to check is if they have had any education about food after vet school and from anyone other than someone paid by a pet food manufacturer.

Actually Beneful by the tub is a good food for the seniors dental challenges. Yes, I suppose I could make it by the pot on the stove, but it is convenient and well received. No one walks away from it.

I wound up doing a ton of nutrition research after my Bess was diagnosed with cancer a couple of years ago.......since cancer feeds on carbs, I try to stay on the low side of those. I got the coupon for the pug food too, but read the ingredients and decided to pass!

Winston was on the Royal Canin pug dry for awhile. We tried it when it first came out and he liked it, but we've since switched to canned food. I have to say though, his skin was not as dry as it had been before the RC, so i'm guessing one or several of the ingredients were good for the pug skin. Whatever it was, i'm sure it can be added as a supplement to any food.

Feeding just canned food is not really good for your dogs teeth...tarter builds up much quicker...they need dry food to get their teeth cleaned and kept in good shape

Absolutely, except he doesn't have many left and he wasn't chewing the kibble at all. He gets his teeth brushed several times a week and I use petzyme spray as well. According to the vet, it had to do with the breeding, he doesn't have dental disease and never has.

IMO royal canin is not a high quality food like they advertise it to be. I feed my 8.5 month old Ruby Natural Balance fish and sweet potato. Iv tried several different foods since I got her, and this one is the only one that doesnt make her gassy or give her stinky poops. I am however looking into homecooked meals, but need to do more research before I can actually get myself to try it.
