    Default Pro Plan Shredded Blend

I can't tell you how many different foods we've tried with Rosey, all in an attempt to help her anal glands stay under control. She's had a touchy stomach in the past, and now 6 years later we still have anal gland issues. We have to get them expressed about once every 2 months. Food changes really haven't helped. Rosey also has never been fond of any kibble I've fed her. I've used everything from Solid Gold, Fromm, Chicken Soup, Nutro, California Natural....the list goes on. While at my mom's house, Rosey got a taste of their dog's Pro Plan Shredded Blend. She went nuts for it!!!!! Just wondering if anyone has used this and is happy with it. Sometimes I wonder if I should just give her what she likes.

This is the first time I've ever seen Rosey bark, paw at the bowl, and go crazy for kibble. Any thoughts? Also wondering about any opinions on the "new" Pro Plan....supposed to be all new formulation and much more natural. It just came out at our PetSmart. Thanks for any help.

We feed it to our guys. They also love it. I think we got it because the ingredients were in the best "order of appearance" for dog food that we have read: not so much grain in there as a top ingredient as others. Anyway, now that I think about it we do have slightly less anal gland stuff going on here but I am not sure if that's the food or not. Could just be the season and there's more eating of the greenery outside when the lawn's been cut and maybe that helps. But they sure do like the food.

Pro Plan is not as high quality as people believe, its decent but the ingredients are still not that great. Have you tried Natural Balance sweet potato and fish recipe? thats what i have been feeding my pug for the past few months, and its the only food that hasnt made her gassy or have stinky and soft poops.

I tried it for our dogs, and it made the pugs itch so badly, that we had to try to find something else.

No, I haven't tried the Natural balance yet. I'll have to look for it at pet store. She's just so picky and weird about her food. Hard to believe there is such a thing.....a "picky pug"??... Thanks for the advice!

ProPlan is Purina's highest quality food. I really love Natural balance and have Frank on it, but when I got my Chow mix (who came to me with demodectic mange and all sorts of issues) I had her on ProPlan and her coat came back beautifully and she does really well on it. I have her on the salmon Proplan naturals or w/e.
I would give Natural Balance a try as well. It's about the same in price as the proplan, but it's sold at Petco instead of Petsmart.
