    Default Preservatives needed

I'm thinking of mailing some dog cookies to a friend. The recipe I use has no preservatives, and I'm wondering if they'd hold up in the mail. It's my trout cookies. (All the articles I find say raisins have a natural preservative; I DON'T THINK SO!)

Interesting question.....I'm curious what other people will say.
I know that Salt is a natural preservative, but obviously you don't want to add a ton of that to dog cookies.... and anti-oxidants (like Vitamin E and C) are also natural preservatives, but I have no idea how much you would need to add to something to make safe. Best not to mess around with that unless you knew exactly how much to add.

I think if you froze the trout cookies before shipping and used something like the postal service Priority Mail (2-3 day shipping) you'd probably be fine. You can also put them in a styrofoam box inside the shipping box and add some ziploc bags of ice to the cooler box.
