Oh no! Poor guy, his belly just couldn't handle it. :(
Mine will eat carrots, but it has to be tiny pieces. as far as Darwin is concerned, if it fits in his mouth he can swallow it. :P

Just a follow up to this thread...
Dexter threw up a whole cooked potato piece he must have found on the floor. It was like a day and a half after we ate potatoes! And, even worse, he threw up a few kernels of canned corn about 8 hours after eating them. Absolutely no cooked veggies for my puggy.
I've been experimenting with fresh green beans and carrots ground up and added to his kibble (since his stool is typically on the softer side). No digestive problems here, and the stool is firmer. And he loves bananas and apple slices and digests these no problem.
However, I have to be very careful not to drop my cooking on the floor. The poor thing must feel awful having those things sit on his stomach that long. And I don't really enjoy cleaning up doggy puke at 4am.![]()

Because dogs have no need of carbohydrates or fiber many dogs have problems with them, either digesting them or they become breeding grounds for yeast in the gut.
I limit my dogs veggies to leafy greens and very small amounts of fruits and crushed berries. These make up less that 5% of their diet.
Take care,
Lisa

My puggers get baby carrots daily. They are pretty good about crunching them up before swallowing. It's meat that they try to swallow whole!
Warning to those people that think tomatoes are a good "treat" for your dogs....
Tomatoes (plant and fruit) contain tomatine, an alkaloid related to solanine. As the fruit ripens, the tomatine is metabolized. Therefore, ripe tomatoes are less likely to be problematic for animals. Clinical signs of poisoning include lethargy, drooling, difficulty breathing, colic, vomiting, diarrhea or constipation, widely-dilated pupils, paralysis, cardiac effects, central nervous system signs (e.g., ataxia, muscle weakness, tremors, seizures), resulting from cholinesterase inhibition, coma and death. (This information comes from veterinarians, and the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center.) (All parts of the plant except the tomato itself are poisonous to humans, although some people are sensitive to the ripe fruit also.)

Tinker doesn't like raw carrots but eats cooked ones. Pumpkin helps with the stools.I mix green beans and peas with am meal and asparagus with pm.
