I worry about giving my pug too much sugar as much as I worry about too much fat. The recent Kong thread got me thinking and prompted this research.
In 1 Tablespoon:
Typical Peanut Butter -- 8 grams of fat, 1.5 grams of sugar
Reduced Fat Peanut Butter -- 6 grams of fat, 2 grams of sugar
Regular Plain Yogurt -- .5 grams of fat, .75 grams of sugar
Fat-Free Plain Yogurt -- 0 grams of fat, .875 grams of sugar
Interestingly, less fat always means more sugar.
Which do you feel is healthiest as a Kong stuffer, and why?
(I found that when reading nutrition labels, you have to be very careful to check the serving size. Dannon yogurts sometimes list 8 oz. as the serving size, other times 6 oz.)

Wouldn't peanut butter stay in the Kong better? Just a thought.

I tend to use dry treats or a mix of dry treats with p-butter.
Not a big fan of Dairy and dogs - at least my dogs. Always a problem with GI upset if we get too much milk or cheese around here. From the 'Deadly Doggy Farts' to loose stools.

I like ground meat, or unsalted organic peanut butter, no sugar or salt....if you are concerned with the fat you can pour off some of the oil from the top.

We use natural peanut butter & biscuits.
During the summer we freeze yogurt in the kong, which they also really like (i wouldn't give it everyday though as too much dairy=upset tummy)
We also like the treat dispensing toys because you can put healthier treats in them - like the Havaball or Buster Ball.

You have to put kibble in the bottom of the kong to keep the yogurt from leaking out. Phoebe gets a frozen yogurt kong every day.

we make a "glop" of yog (unsweetened), pb (unsugared), and pumpkin (canned, pure) and add to it a handful of their regular kibble then we mush it into the kongs and balls and freeze them... This is an OUTDOOR enjoyment for them... for about 10 minutes! LOL!
I always thought it was the masticating (chewing and licking) that got them loose stools.. it happens after marrow bones too... hmmm.

The dairy doesn't give Phoebe loose stools--once in a while she emits a little "Pfffft" from her rear end, but that is the extent of her gastrointestinal issues.

pb is not required... all glop is good to a dog... it's messy to assemble these (forget "spooning it in" to the kong... I used fistfulls and fingertips.. and then get "kisses" in the prewash cycle for my hands!
