    Default home cooked food question

I have a question. I currently feed Bosley and Bristol Timberwolf organics. I am contemplating switching to a home cooked diet. So far Dr Harvey has caught my eye

My question is could I also use it in conjunction with Addiction using the Addiction as the alternating protein source?

I've never heard of Dr. Harvey's, but I took a quick look at the website and it looks a lot like Honest Kitchen's Preference Grain Free Dog Food | Dehydrated Dog Food | Homemade | Preference | The Honest Kitchen Most of the Honest Kitchen foods have meat already, but with Preference you add your own choice of meat.

You could certainly feed the re-hydrated mix for one meal and Addiction for the other meal. Or you could feed Dr. Harvey's for breakfast and a raw, meaty bone or fish for the dinner meal. However, if you're asking about mixing Addiction WITH the Dr. Harvey's, then that probably would not be recommended. Addiction is already a "balanced meal" and it looks like Dr. Harvey's is intended to be a balanced meal once you add meat... so you really only need to add meat to the powdered mix and let it re-hydrate.... you don't need to add a whole 'nother dog food to it. You can either use regular meat of your choosing that you buy at the grocery, or you can find 99-100% meat in cans from a few sources. Wysong and Evanger's are two that I know about who offer canned meat for dogs.

Another option that many here on PugVillage use is Hilary's Breakfast Slop recipe. Not quite as convient as re-hydrating a powdered mix, but it allows you TOTAL control over the ingrediants going into the food. Why and How I Feed Raw - updated July, 2010 (includes Breakfast Slop recipe)
