Fish based foods

Is fish based foods good for male dog? I read or heard somewhere that you should never give your dog food that has fish in it. Is this true?

all fish based foods are great for dogs but my pugs did not care for it but lots of pugs on the village do use them

If you are feeding raw fish, a good mix of fish is recommended to minimize intake of contaminants (lead, mercury, etc.). Avoid Pacific Northwest Salmon as it can cause acute bowel problems. Also avoid Atlantic salmon; the wild stuff is endangered and the farmed stuff is not only lacking in nutrients but full of parasites and high toxic levels (PCBs, etc.). Other than that, go for it.

Mine are on a totally fish based diet and are fine with it.

Anya is doing very well on Blue Buffalo Basic - Salmon and Potato.

Mine are on Orijen 6 Fish right now, and they are doing great!

Mine eat Acana Pacifica, and I also use fish as a topper on their kibble. One can't have beef or chicken, we're not sure if venison and elk will bother him, and now lamb is suspect too...without fish I don't know what we'd do.
