Can someone advise on the best treats to give a 12-week old puppy when rewarding for house training? Can I give fresh food like pieces of carrot or cheese? Or should it be an actual DOG treat. I live overseas (Ecuador) and don't have the same selection of organic treats you can find in the US...but can get your basic purina or milk bone dog buscuit for puppies. Any tips would be welcome! Thanks!
Carrots are just fine, and maybe little pieces of boiled chicken. I do know somewhere on here is a recipe for liver treats, those would be great to use. I stay away from cheese because of the dairy and mine tend to get stinky gas. I am not a fan of milk bones, just my opinion. Welcome and have fun with your puppy.

Pugs for the most part will eat anything. Boiled chicken is good and you can use her kibble. The reward is not just the treat but your tone of voice, excitement and praise.

I personally dont like milkbone either, their ingredients arent really good. I wouldnt do cheese as a treat because its dairy and it makes dogs gain weight like crazy. I would also do either boiled chicken or if you can find liver treats. The only treats I give to mine are the freeze dried beef liver from Benny Bullys, but I dont know if those are sold worldwide
