    Default Smoked bones?

I was recently at the General Store 15 miles from home, and they had a freezer full of smoked bones. These are raw bones that have been smoked, big beef bones. I got some and the dogs went nuts over them.

    Any problem with giving them?

Other than the fact that they are really smelly, ahaha. Dogs' teeth have never been so pearly white.

I stay away from anything smoked since it can cause seizures in some.

I have never heard this before. These are naturally smoked rather than having smoke flavoring added. Can you provide some info? I'll go do a search. Thanks for the tip.

So far so good. They've had the bones for over a week, and no problems. Other than sparkly white teeth! Only Izabella is really very interested.

I did a bunch of research on smoked bones, and don't find any reference to seizures. Some sort of connection between rawhide and seizures. But these are actual beef bones left over from the local butcher, that are smoked. They are not treated with chemicals at all, just thrown in the smoker. What I was concerned about was splintering, since I thought maybe smoking would be like cooking them, but they don't seem to be.

No soft stool either--but they have not gotten into the marrow yet. These are the big knuckle bones from a cow.

    Any other thoughts?

I would be very interested in a link between smoked bones and seizures, if you have any info. My little pom suffered from seizures in the last years of his life.

These are real bones, that have been in the smokehouse. On the farm. In the neighborhood. :) What issues have you had?
