    Default Please help!

I typically feed Ichiban kibble (TOTW), but he has been getting the occasional raw beef bone to help clean tarter build up off his teeth. This time, I just asked the butcher if he had any bones available that may be appropriate for a small dog and he gave me some raw beef "soup bones" (?)

I gave him one maybe four days ago and all though he ate it all (I had read raw beef bones are fully digestible and that this is okay) he seemed fine. So, tonight I gave him another and he just threw up!

I'm so worried! I don't have money for the vet. Does he need to go?

His vomit is sort of white and foamy, with maybe a SLIGHT yellowish tinge. Other than that he is behaving normally.

Also, he devoured it pretty quickly.

i woukdnt worry to much, if he is still looking a bit dull and ill after a coiuple of hours maybe give them a call and maybe the receptionist may even give u some info without you having to go in and pay. My pug had one of those old butchers bones i was so scared as it read online that they can splinter. i was watching him the whole time he had it! he was fine though, anyway from time to time my pug will foam up a sicky white slightly yellow foam stuff, and let out abit cough with it, i think they let out all there build up of saliva, this usually happens when theyve got excited... hence maybe after the bone he may of got abit excited and cleared out all that built up saliva....
its a possiblility, but give the vet a call if your pug looks sad still after awhile x

Whenever you give a dog raw bones, make sure there are no pieces large enough to not be easily chewed up but still small enough to swallow whole, also watch for sharp cuts. I stick with beef rib, marrow and knuckle bones and chicken and turkey necks. Soup bones, unfortunately often contain small slivers of bone.

White or yellow vomit is not serious, however if throws up bright red blood or "coffee ground" looking material, it could be a sign he is cut inside and bleeding. If his mucous membranes go pale, or he begins to refuse food/water or become sluggish, I would take him to the vet.

    Take care,
    Lisa
