Post How many times should I feed 9-wk old Sushi?

    Hello fellow pug owners,
I am a bit in a pickle. I have been feeding Sushi 1/4 of a cup 3 times a day and she does eat all of her food in less then 10 minutes and it does she seems a bit on the slim side. I was wondering if we should increase her food intake to 4 times a day or increase the serving size to maybe 1/2 cup per meal? Or is everything just fine how it is?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks in advance!!

Well ... that depends. Define 'slim'>> Pugs are not supposed to resemble barrels ... much healthier that they have a discernible waist. ;-)

Next issue is ... what are you feeding>> Pugs do not do well with a grain based food. They do better on a single protein diet with no corn or wheat. Pug puppies need about 500ish kcals per day ... how much is in the servings she is getting>

Once you settle that .... I'd adjust the quantity I was feeding, not the times

    Good luck!

If you think she's too thin, increase the amount of food. I wouldn't hesitate feeding 4 times a day with such a small puppy. I know a lot of people who do and breeders who recommend it. Puppies shouldn't be fat, but it's normal for a pug puppy to be a little bit roly-poly. I know some breeders that recommend giving puppies free access to food even. We tried that with Winston, but it just made him bored with the food. He needed feeding time to be a bit more special.
