So i'm sure this has been asked before, but i'm quite concerned about the issue so I am going to go ahead and ask, and my apologies if it's been gone over a lot!
I have decided to take Nano off the kibble that he was on. I am not happy with the brand, and a little upset that my vet pushed for us to get it. The brand was Medi-Cal: Development Formula. I researched it because even though my vet pushed for it, Nano was eating a lot of food, and always seemed veryvery hungry. From the research i've done, it looks like this brand is only a two star rated food, which I am not happy feeding my dog. Dog Food Reviews - Medi-Cal Development Formula - Powered by ReviewPost
I like the idea of feeding a raw diet, but I want to wait until he is full-grown and I know much more on the subject first. So in the meantime I attempted to find a food that I feel confident to feed him, that I can find in stores here.
I like this brand, and wanted to get Dog Food Reviews - Go Natural Grain Free Endurance - Powered by ReviewPost . However it wasn't available. After speaking with the people there, I ended up choosing Dog Food Reviews - Now grain-free adult formula - Powered by ReviewPost . I am still a little worried that it might not be a high enough quality food though, as some people recommended you also supplement meat in the diet.
Which brings me to my question (sorry for the long post)! What brand do you feed your pug? Has anyone had any experiences with these foods that I have, positive or negative? Should I return this kibble and try something else? Any recommendations would be amazing!
Thank you for reading!
Nano is: 9 months and 27 lbs :)
I am in the UK so don't know the brand but the ingredients look decent enough to me. I always top kibble with some fish anyway. Maybe others on here have actual experience with that brand.
Whatever you choose I would advise you to switch Nano over to the new food slowly to minimise risk of tummy upsets. That means adding 1/4 portion new food to 3/4 portion old food for a day or so, if all goes well then go to 1/2 and 1/2 for a day or so, then 3/4 to to 1/4 old so it takes about a week of transition.
Bella, mummy to Snifter and Toddy!

I agree. Another option would be to try ready made raw food. That's what we give now and it works brilliantly.
@Snifter: This is off topic, but Toddy looks AMAZINGLY like our boy Winston. The ears are not identical (Winnies hang forward a little more) but they are freakishly similar, in that photo at least.
We feed Taste of the Wild Pacific stream kibble, garnished with a spoon of Fromm's wet in rotating flavours. Wally has a sensitive tummy and this works well for him (even raw made him quite ill). Leto, well, he'd eat anything, but his tummy has become beautifully pink on this regime.

Petcurian is a good brand (although I do not feed potato). I would go with their other line called Go! Fit & Free. http://www.petcurean.com/for-dogs/go/ You can always put additions (not more than 20%) with his food to up the protein content like sardines, lightly scrambled egg, raw chicken or beef. Have you tried giving him a chicken wing or neck? You can also top the kibble with grain free canned food like Instinct, Core, Merrick Before Grain, 95% meats. But it would be a good time to start introducing raw to his diet. You can buy commercial raw frozen food in small nugget sizes (1 oz) and give him 1 or 2 a day to give him a taste of it.
Thank you for all of your helpful suggestions! I think the idea of feeding raw appeals to me the most, as it seems the most natural for dogs. I am going to do some research on the subject, and then we'll see how Nano takes to it! I think starting with the small frozen nugget sizes would be a good idea for sure :)

Not trying to hijack the thread but the pink tummy reminded me...is it normal for a pugs tummy to vary from day to day/ week to week on how pink it is? rebbie's tummy color has made changes from all gray/dark to more pink but it seems that it changes fairly often. It will look more pink one day and then grayish mixed in the next time i look at his tummy. Thoughts?
To the op...i feed rebbie totw high prairie formula. He seems to like it. ;)
