Oh very good to know, pugtown...I like your idea of switching it up...maybe I will try that!

Maybe you've seen my other posts - my puppy seems to be a finicky eater (rare for a pug) and I've heard from other PV-ers that they go crazy for raw...plus it seems better for her...but I could alternate :)

For those who are mixing a raw diet and a kibble diet, I would suggest doing some research on that. I have read several places that its a bad idea. I am no expert, and I sure could be wrong, but I would still check into the effects of doing that. Just my opinion and what I have learned doing research on the effects of a raw diet versus the kibble diet.

    Hi - new here!
I don't feed Ethel raw, as she's a foster & chances are she wont be on a raw after she's adopted.
But my 2 other dogs have been eating raw for 4 years. One feeding a day is whole chicken (usually), but one feeding is pre-packaged raw for variety & convenience. I'm a real Nature's Variety fan, but have also used Primal which is good too, but I stick mainly with NV because it's made locally to me

I too use Nature's Variety mostly because it is all that is available locally, however the Primal is excellent and if it's across the street that is what I would use.

    Take care,

Agreed. Kibble and Raw digest at very different rates.... it's not so good for the tummy to mix the two. If you must use both for convenience, I would suggest you feed the raw for breakfast (it digests more quickly) and feed kibble for dinner when it has all night to stew in the tummy and digest. Some might suggest the opposite though, so do your research first!

I feed my pugs once a day. Either raw or kibble or kibble/canned, or fresh raw chicken parts. Once in a while raw/kibble if I didn't thaw enough for a whole meal! Yes raw and kibble digest at different rates but also at different pH and in different chambers of the stomach/intestinal tract as well. I also use freeze dried raw boost sprinkles (Instinct) on the kibble sometimes and am going to try air dried K9 Natural tripe as a sprinkle too. I only feed once a day as to not use up their stores of enzymes. If a dog eats kibble which can take over 12 hours to digest and they are eating twice a day, they are using up much energy/enzymes stores from the body trying to digest 24/7. Thus, I feed just once a day and allow their body to rest up. Enzymes are used in every cell for everyday cell function. I've recently used Tripett as a canned topper. They all like it alot. I also have access to ZiwiPeak canned tripe as well that I will be trying. Raw tripe is excellent for feeding if you can find it but stinks to high heaven! I cut and serve it outside.
