Hello. My Pugs love carrots, too. I only give them the baby carrots, but they each get several a day as treats. I use the carrots in place of commercial dog treats, which I do not allow them to have.
Unseen they suffer, Unheard they cry.
In agony they linger, In loneliness they die.
Please adopt. Don't Buy.

We use Baby Carrots for treats also. Daisy and Huck probably eat 5 or 6 each throughout the day. I'm not sure if there are any negative effects if too many are fed, but for a puppy, I might just cut them into smaller pieces so Leo gets the equivalent of 1 or 2 total Baby Carrots per day.

I have never tried carrots but definately will, do they chew them, do you ever worry about them choking?
I actually do worry about my pugs choking on them. They both chew them up pretty small, but I never leave the room until they have both actually finished their carrots. The size and shape worry me.

They are pretty high in sugar, but mine get maybe one every week or so. I don't think there's a problem with one a day though.

My two love not only carrots, but: raw green beans, watermelon chunks, pieces of raw potato, corn, pea pods, and bean sprouts. The vet said all are good for them in moderation.
Ollie loves his carrots also but we try to find the fattest ones we can and give him the end bits-not only are they great chew toys, he is entertained for a while. He is now 4 months and still trying to gnaw everything!
I am new to Pug Village myself, and I have already gained a lot from reading other peoples posts (no matter how experienced or inexperienced they are as Pug owners). I recommend the articles on the Home Page about Pug health care – they are really interesting and helpful.
I have tried feeding my Pug Grover carrots as treats, but he just won’t eat them…he plays with them, throws them up in the air, and then forgets about them!
I don’t think it matters how many carrots a day you are feeding Leo…I mean, I am assuming that you aren’t feeding him a kilo or anything! I think what is more important is that his main diet his healthy, with plenty of vitamins and nutrients (either though the food or through supplements).

KC the ID has just discovered Carrots. I like the chips with Marzetti's Blue Cheese dip ... KC gets his plain, though.
He is nuts about them. Barks, jumps, does 'Pawz up!!", trills, fusses and fumes until he gets one.
In looking up portions, I did run across one Vet article saying dogs do not have the enzymes to break down raw veggies. If they cannot break them down, sugar becomes a null factor. I think he'll still be on a limit of only a few chips while I am snacking.
