Hi Monie, congratulations on your new arrivals - as the besotted 'mummy' of a 4 month old lil girl puglet I raise my hat to you - 2 puppies is going to be crazy! Wonderful but crazy.

Re the puppy mill thing - ah, we're going through the awful process of realising the breeder we bought our beloved Gertie from was not all he appeared to be. Long story I need to post about at some point. I wouldn't swap her for the world, she's my adored heart dog - but we made some serious mistakes when we bought her and we've learnt some valuble lessons, too late, but they are learnt now. Our next one (we're planning on getting a boy next year) will take us far longer to get but we will know exactly what we are getting.

We looked into rescuing but here in the UK there doesn't appear to be the same scale problem as you guys have. I would happily take a senior, whenever I meet one I fall a little bit in love.

Lisa, thank you for posting about the puppy mills even though it breaks my heart to think about them.

Looking forward to seeing pictures of your little angels. Enjoy being a new pug mommy, I can honestly say having my girl come into my life has been one of the best things that has ever happened to me. I am smitten, sure you will be too x

With you and your husband being attorneys, perhaps this is happening so you can profile and prosecute the people involved in the puppy mill - broker - store process. In the meantime, hug those puppies and let them help you spread the word to unsuspecting purchasers so that parents like theirs don't have to continue to live in hell. My first two pugs came from puppy mills before I knew better and the thought haunts me all the time. It keeps me motivated to spend my time in pug rescue and to spread the word far and wide.

& congrats on your new pug babies! WOW, your "very" brave trying to raise 2 pug puppies. Your going to have hell on wheels X 2. The potty training will be most challenging. Make sure to give your big dog time away from the puppies because they will not give up biting & bugging their new large sibling.

Also, a puppy broker is always tied to supporting puppy mills & other not so nice places that treat animals poorly. Just look up "puppy mill" and you will see.

Welcome to PV! Congrats on getting 2 pug puppies! They will be a lot of work but worth it in the end. I have 2 littermates that are Dogo Argentinos. They just turned 10 months old and weigh 100 pounds each. It's been a lot of work but I think back to what they were like a month ago and see progress. In the end, they will be wonderful dogs! Good luck with your puppies and I can't wait to see pics! :)

    Hello everyone!

This is the first time I had a moment free since Thursday night when I brought home Henrietta & Gus!!! They are absolutely adorable and have been responding very well to positive reinforcement with the outside potty training!!! I took off from work Friday, so I was able to spend 3 full days with them, taking them outside to go potty every 1-1.5 hours. There have only been a handful of "accidents" and those have been within their pen on a wee wee pad. Sadly, today I am at work - but I live close by so will be taking 2 hours for lunch to go take care of them, and likewise leaving early to get home to them ASAP. I know they can't hold their pee/poop yet on their own just yet - so this week I think I am going to continue to keep them in the pen (pen has their crate & wee wee pad & food) and then perhaps within the next 2 weeks a more strict "crate training" will commence - - once I think they are stronger to hold their pee/poop. Of course, any suggestions/advice are welcome!

I will try to figure out how to post a pic ASAP. I took about 1000 pictures of them this weekend hehe.

They aren't eating "on schedule" just yet - -their breakfast is put out around 7:30am, but they don't touch it until 11ish. I am hesitant to remove the food bowls from their pen b/c I know they are puppies and need their nutrients to grow & be healthy. But I do eventually want them to get used to eating on a schedule.
