Pictures - we LOVE pictures!!!
Here is the link to a sticky that gives instructions for how to post pictures on PugVillage: HOW TO: Post Pictures on PV (Updated)
Your User Profile (Settings)
You can post a small avatar image that will display next to your name on each post, edit your signature line or make other changes to your profile from My Settings. Click on Settings up at the top of this screen (Or, go to Forum Actions in the top bar and then General Settings if you do not see a blue Settings at the very top), then choose an option from the tasks on the left side of the screen. Note: the maximum size for your avatar picture is 120 x 120 pixels or 29.3 kb (pretty small!) so if it's larger, you'll need to re-size it first using photo-editing software.

Note: To post pictures in your signature line you'll need at least 50 posts first... so get posting!
What do those Pawprints mean under the user name?
When you post a message, you'll see a Village "title" and some pawprints under your user name. These pawprints and titles mark how many posts you've made here on PugVillage. When you are looking at a message within a thread, you can see how many posts a user has made by looking on the top-right side of the post, under location it will say posts and a number. As your total number of posts increase, your pawprints will also increase. 0 paws = "New to Village" up to 99 posts = 1 blue paw, "Village Puppy" 100 posts = 2 blue paws, "Village Mayor" 500 posts = 3 blue paws, "Village Governor" 1000 posts= 4 blue paws, "Village Senator" 1500 posts= 5 purple paws, "Village Admiral" 2000 posts= 5 purple paws, "Village Royalty" over 4000 posts= 5 purple or green paws, pick your own Village custom title!
Making your first post or thread
A thread is what we call a new topic where other people write replies. A post is the individual reply that someone writes. To create a new thread, first choose the correct forum (is your thread an introduction? Post it in Meet and Greet. Is your thread a health question about your pug? Post it in Pug Health and Care.) Then, click on the +Post New Thread button that appears near the top of the page, above the list of threads. It looks like this:
Now, give your thread a Title (something like "Newbie from Michigan!" or "Potty training help needed"). Next, write out your post and then you can either Preview it or click on Submit New Thread and you're done! You've just posted your first thread.
Posting a reply to someone else's thread is even easier... just type your response in the "Quick Reply" box at the bottom of the thread and click on Post Quick Reply. (Note: clicking on Go Advanced gives you more options, like a list of smilies to add to your message , or changing the text).
Searching for information
PugVillage has been around for many years and the information you are looking for might have been asked before. You can look at older threads by using the search box at the top right of the screen. It looks like this:
Note: clicking on Advanced search will allow you to search by the name of the person who posted or to narrow the date range.
There are also several helpful "Stickies" in various forums that address some of the most commonly asked questions. Look for them at the top of the list of threads within each forum.
There is also a sub-forum with more tips on how to do things on PugVillage, here's the link: How To Do Stuff on PugVillage

Here's another PV-specific question that comes up from time to time so I thought I would add it here.....
What are "Walter Ears" and what does it mean when someone on PugVillage says a pug has Walter Ears???
Walter was the much-loved pug of PugVillage member of Cathy (Tocents). He had a big personality and distinctive fly-away ears. Many of the long-time members of PugVillage fondly remember Whompin' Stompin' Walter and the colorful stories of his life. "Walter Ears" is a phrase said in affection and endearment. Here is a picture of Walter and his ears.
