Hey everyone! i've used this forum as a resource for my pugs and figured it was time we joined. after i wrote out this intro it was way longer than i meant for it to be, but it has pictures! so maybe someone will read it ;)
My name is Rae and until about a year and a half ago pugs weren't even really on my radar. when my husband and i started looking at some local rescues for dogs we fell in love with a black pug named rose.
we only had her about nine months before she was tragically killed but you would not find a dog who was more loved than her. and because of her we now adore the breed and can't imagine having any other!
a few days after we lost rose my husband when to an adoption event without me. i was still incredibly upset and hurt about what happened to rose and said i wasn't ready. he knew better. he got to the event late and metro animal control had one dog left. a three legged pug. now was that fate or what? so he brought home phyllis and she brought me so much joy and really helped me to heal. i needed her just as much as she needed us.
the pound said she was about 4 but she is missing a bunch of her teeth and our vet says she can't really tell. she is a great pug! and she doesnt' let having three legs slow her down. she can run and play and even jump up onto the couch.
i love how tiny she is!
about six months later a friend at work (who volunteers at animal control) told me they had a pug who needed a home and sent me this picture:
i said i would come take a look and if she didn't fit in with our family i would see if a pug rescue would take her and i would foster. of course she came home with me the next morning
she is guessed to be 8-10 years old. she is mostly deaf, and mostly blind, and has pretty advanced arthritis but none of that slows her down one bit. she and phyllis loved each other from the first and can always be found shoved into one tiny bed even though they have tons of beds all over the house. they are both on joint supplements and are on carefully measured diets so they don't get too heavy because they both have joint problems. here are some more cute pictures!
the love going to lowes because they get so much attention.
helping me weed. aka barking at all the cars and people that go by.
at the parthenon.
on a walk (aka mom and dad carry them most of the way home. we really need to get a wagon
