Hey people. I'm new to this site. I am going to be getting a pug puppy soon in the next couple months and I would like everyone to give me tips and hints on how to care for a pug. I have never had one but i currently have a cocker spaniel mix(he's going on 11 yrs next month) and 2 ferrets. Do they get along well with ferrets? I live with my bf in a small apartment and we think it would be nice for my older dog to have a little brother or sister dog before he goes (also to comfort me a little bit when he does go) I have done alot of research on the breed and my landlord has 2 so I think i should know what to expect of them and I have really liked pugs for awhile. I think they're cute! So any extra tips or anything(even little stories)that you can think of that you think would help would be great. Thanks. :)
Hello &! Sounds like you're doing your homework about the breed. Lots of good info on here and lots of good people with good advice. Ask any questions you have, someone will chime in!

actually i do have a question :) I know this can happen with pugs but has anyone had problems with their dog's eyes popping out??(just wondering) do you take them to the vet right away or do you try to put it back in yourself? that just makes me squeamish just talking about it. I hope when i get one it wont happen with him.
Welcome! In your research, read every article on this site, including don't get a Pug.
welcome aboard... pug eyes ARE special... the popping out I have no experience with myself, but some here have (ugh!)... Good for you for researching. I grew up with cockers (black, girls)... then had (chose) a Boston Terrier (male)... then found pugs... but missed the terrier energy which the BT had had (in his youth)... so I have migrated back to terriers... but pugs are cute and at times cuddly clowns (young ones can be speedy devils getting into "things" - but they will train YOU quickly. ha ha.)!

i didn't know there was actual information on this site. I also like boston terriers but i just think that pugs are cute as puppies (i know all are) but i've just always liked pugs. every time i would mention a pug to my parents or grandparents they would say, "they're ugly" or something like that. but they're not. its because of the face that they have that MAKES them cute ^_^ I think i would get a girl pug and name her cloe(y) I have only ever had 2 girl dogs in my entire life. one was a husky and the other was either a golden retreiver or a lab, not sure. I just prefer girl dogs over boys i think (i like both sexes of dogs but like i said if i had to pick i would prefer girls) the dog i have now was given as a gift to me when he was i think 6 or 7 weeks old, maybe 8, im not sure, I was in grade 7 i think at the time. he's now going to be 11 in october.
