Hi pug lovers, I'm Donna & I have an 8 yr old black male named Nemo & a 3 yr old female fawn named Dory, we live on LI,NY. 5 weeks ago my husband suffered a massive stroke & I'm getting ready to bring him home from the hospital within the next 10 days. I'm looking for temporary foster care for my pugs until he's more steady on his feet, I'm thinking 3 mos. It's just the 2 of us at home & I'm just a little nervous about trying to assist him while managing Nemo, especiall, who is a little demanding. I have a gate up across the front room to keep him from running out the front door when someone comes in etc, & all gates will have to come down to accommodate the wheelchair, plus they sleep with us in the bed & it will be difficult at first while I'm getting my husband settled in.

Positive thoughts for both you and your husband!
I second contacting Curly Tail, they have access to foster care homes, I'm sure there is someone there who will be able to help. Good luck and I hope your hubby recovers fully.

Seeing hubby adapting and settling in and your pugs home with you!
So sorry to hear about these problems for you. Can't offer any solutions as I am way in the middle of the country, but just wanted to say I hope your husband has a speedy recovery and your Puggies are home with you soon.
Thank you all. My husband assured me we'd all be alright adjusting together. I know he's missed the pups all the while he's been in the hospital. I can't bear the thought of not having them home. I know they're smart and will catch on quickly to give Daddy some room. Again, much thanks for the suggestion and not judging, I was feeling terribly guilty just thinking about sending them away.

Good Luck and here's hoping for a fast and full recovery for your DH!
Patrice, Mom to son Josh and furkids Lola & Ozzy (Pugs) and Thunder & Nissa (Huskies)
They will adjust. My DH went down on a motorcycle at 70 mph and removed about 30% of his skin. It wasn't easy, but we kept 5 pugs (got 2 brand new fosters the day before the accident) and a mastiff away from him at all times.... They could not be allowed to even jump up against him, let alone get on his lap. They slept with us too, but we crated during the day and they had to adjust to sleeping in the crates also. They did great and I am sure your's will too. They will be happy just being near you both.
