Hello pug family! I am new to Pug Village & am so happy to have found a place where I will be able to talk with fellow parents about my questions/concerns and of course share adorable pics :)
Last year I lost my best friend, Otis who was fourteen years old. He was the light of my life and I miss him every day. The last year of his life was filled with health problems and constant visits to the vet. When Otis was thirteen, he began having problems with his eyes. He was diagnosed with corneal dystrophy, an age-related disease causing the cornea to deteriorate. This caused an ulcer on his right eye that would not heal. His eye was unresponsive to treatment and had to be surgically removed. Not even two months later, the very same thing happened to his left eye. Otis was completely blind and yet seemed unaffected by his severe disability. After blind-dog-proofing the house, Otis was back to his happy self and adapted VERY well. However, six months later he was diagnosed with liver cancer. He became very ill and would not eat or even walk sometimes. We had to make a hard, but selfless decision and put him to rest. Not a day goes by that I don't think about him.
Otis's love for life completely made me fall in love with the breed. In February I decided to add another pug to the family. We got Silas when he was just 8 weeks old. The last pick of the litter and it was love at first sight. He is such a wonderful little bundle of joy and I am so happy I made the decision to get another dog. Hope you enjoy the pictures!
