Default I figured I should Introduce Myself...

I have been a PV member for almost a year, I adore reading all of the posts and have learned so much from everyone on here,
My Name is Katie, I am a mother of 4 Human Children and 3 Pug Children, all 3 were failed fosters :) My love for pugs started with Frank who came to "visit" us when my boss was traveling, Frank decided he loved us so much he didn't want to leave He is now 12 adopted at 10 years old he brings so much Joy to our lives, His sisters Lucy a 2 year old Sassy Pants we brought home as a puppy from a kennel that had a break out of Ringworm all babies and momma were affected after getting them out of that house and nursing them back to health we decided to Keep what we thought was the sweetest calmest pup of the litter, Boy did she prove us wrong, she has so much energy its crazy and Piglet a chubby short legged extra smushed face little momma adopted at age 6 (she was a retired show pug who whelped 6 litters before being sold by the kennel) we were her 3rd home in 1 year and are glad to know she will spend the rest of her life being lazy and loved... Oliver was a foster pup who came to me from a breeder who was going to put him down because he had a liver shunt, we worked very hard to save him and got him placed in a wonderful home through Pacific Pug Rescue, sadly he was not strong enough to make it to surgery... But I know he is happy watching us from Pug Heaven and eating as much as he wants without getting sick :)

I notice from your site that you breed pugs---do you show them or compete with them?

I actually do not show or compete with them, I would love to though I am currently looking for a show breeder here in the PAcific NW to mentor me,
If you know anyone let me know. I am not a breeder, I am a pug lover with multiple pug loving friends and family who wanted a pup, I could only find Back Yrd breeders locally and did not want to buy a pup with possible health problems especially after what we went through rescuing Oliver,
So we pooled resources to pay the Stud Fee and have Lucy's Tests run, We have spent over 1k so far and havent even confirmed pregnancy,
Lucy is taller and has flying ears she does have Champions as great Greandparents, so her pedigree in a show sense is only not good. The male I chose does have an excellent Pedigree and was shown but is retired now and living as a Stud, Kinda sad but it is what it is, He is perfect and His shorter more cobby body will hopefully offset Lucys minor flaws.
Anyhow I am not looking for show quality pups from her, Just wonderful companions that will live with my mom, sister, brother and a very close friend.
We are a rescue family so the puppy thing (Bringing home a tiny baby dog to raise and train from the beginning) is exciting and we are ready to experience it.

why would you breed Lucy if she's not "breed standard"
The only good reason to breed is to improve the breed
You said you didn't want to buy from a backyard breeder,
but how is what you're doing any different except for the fact that you're not buying from a BYB, you're becoming one!
If you were truly a "rescue family", your dogs would all be fixed and you wouldn't be breeding them and if your family wanted puppies you would rescue them
    something isn't adding up!

I appreciate your honesty but I feel your respnse is quite rude.

We love our dogs, I am a trained vet tech, have a Bachelors degree in Biology.

My sister and mother both have the means to stay home full time with puppy's.
They fell in love with the breed after meeting my dogs.
    They want a puppy.

We looked and looked on Kijij, The local Newspapers, and the creepy online ads and came to the conclusion that I would breed Lucy at age 2 if she was healthy enough.

I paid for Health Testing, Stud Fees and expect to take time off of work.
How am I a back-yard breeder if I want to know where their Puppy's were born and raised and dont want to fund someones else disgusting puppy mill.

Or buy a puppy from someone who would try to sell a sick Puppy like little Oliver.

You welcome people to the site with no question as to where they aquired their pups, and yet are accusational towards me when I spend countless $ time and resources to protect the Pug Breed.

Am I not allowed to enjoy Puppy's too if we also choose to rescue?

Maybe I should have referred them to buy from a Pet Shop?
