    Default Hello from Texas :)

Hi everyone I'm new here and will be getting my pug in a few weeks. I can't wait and love this site already.

I am curious though I have a female boston terrier and heard it would be best to get a male pug. Does anyone agree or is a female fine as well?

Anyways thank you all for having me I'm so excited to be here.

Welcome, I have a female Boston and two male pugs, they get along great. female Bostons can get kind of pushy. Male or Female I think would work fine, but I'm not an expert, others can answer your question better than me. Good luck

I'm no expert either, but I have read that male/male or female/male are better than female/female. I have a female and a male and besides preparing of the meals they get along wonderfully.
I'm sure someone who has lots more experience will chime in.

Welcome! Where in Texas are you from? I hope not the Dallas area!

We have a lot of members here who have both pugs and BTs so I hope you will hear from them!

Anecdotally, adding a male seems to work better. Girls sometimes are more prone to have clashes. That being said, every dog has his or her own personality.

They are called bitches for a reason. Get a boy to go with the exsiting girl.

Yes, in general, and there are always exceptions, male/male or male/female work best. Usually the female assumes the dominant position, especially since you are bringing a pup in to an adult established dog.

However there are plenty of girl/girl teams that get along well, it is only a very general rule.

If I were you though, I would look for a laid back male.

    Take care,

I adopted an older female 2 years ago and she could care less who else (male or female) comes into the house as fosters. You never know...
