Hello to all the PugVillage members.
Three weeks ago we collected the new member of our Family, Tommy. He is our first ever Pug and he has settled in well.
I would like to ask all if there is any hints, tips or general things you think would be useful for me to know please send them on.
hi! And congratulations on adding Tommy to your family :) how old is he? Is he fawn or black?
I'm sure you will pick up lots of tips from the experienced multi-pug owners on here
I think the main one I would keep in mind is pugs need harnesses for walks rather than leads due to them being prone to collapsed tracheas. And I would definitely advocate pet insurance but I'm guessing you've already thought of that!

Hi and welcome. In training a Pug or any other puppy, consistency and patience are the only way to success. Use positive reinforcement of good behavior. Ignore, don't punish bad behavior. Take a whole lot of pictures and post them here. If you have any specific issues, feel free to ask.
Chris, owned by Minni the diva, and "Sugar" Ray the ever hungry.
Ray has since crossed the bridge but stays forever in my heart. I love you, Boo Boo. Oscar Wilde Thang has joined the family.

Hi and welcome I highly recommend getting Victoria Stilwell's new book. It's chock full of great info that I think you would love.
Congratulation on Tommy. Is he a rescue?

Hi & You have come to the right place! Pugs have to be indoor dogs--they can't handle any extremes of heat or cold! They appreciate a cozy sweater when going out for potty walks in the winter, & they love their AC in the summer!

Thank you to everyone for your wonderful welcomes. Tommy is 13 weeks old and a fawn Pug, he was not a rescue we purchased him from a breeder.
So far his potty training is going well however as he is waiting for his second injection he cannot go outside, when he can I'm sure it will be a lot easier to train him.
We have a harness ready for when he can get out in the fresh air. At the moment we are rewarding Tommy with dog treats when he uses his mats to go to the toilet is this a good Idea???
We have four free weeks insurance without Vet then I will book out own?? Any suggestions which company is best????
My little girl has fallen in love with him (as have my husband and I) and now has a new best friend.
I will try to post some pic's today but can't seem to find out how to do this at the moment.
Eve and Tommy.
