    Default Greetings!

Hello all! I'm Pixie, and a brand new mommy to a cutie pie pug named Gizmo. I'm 25 years old, Gizmo is 13 weeks and some odd days! We also live with my fiancee Brian {25}.

It has been an exciting, emotional week - I got Gizmo on saturday. Sunday we took a long car ride to do something that was unavoidable, but he's been good. Both saturday when we picked him up from the breeder, and sunday, he stayed with me in the back seat {no crate, just lots of pillows covers and me}. Yestersay he did his first crate in the car ride to go to the vet because I had to take him alone, and i discovered if i sang to him {he prefers twinkle twinkle/abc's} he would be nice and calm. He's a total momma's boy. if he gets scared or hurt or super oddly tired he runs to sit on mommy's lap or against mommy - not daddy {my fiancee}. I'll admit, I love it! He was a good boy at the vet, a scaredy cat and clung to mommy the whole time, but a good boy anyway. When we got home he threw up a bit - i assumed stress since he seemed fine otherwise.

I have to thank everyone here for helping me without knowing it the last couple days. I swear, like all good kids, he is TRYING to give mommy a heart attack. On monday he started this new "running laps" thing - he would throw his tail down between his legs and run faster than ever around through the kitchen door, the dining room, to the other kitchen door. Since then he's also done it around the living room. It seems like he does it when he is really worked up {we don't TRY to work him up, he is just terrified of my fiancee's huge feet, and gets barky and hyper at them even when they aren't moving at all}. And then last night he got his first set of reverse sneezing, i thought he was dying, started to call the vet in tears while brian tried to calm him down {okay, he WAS calm, *I* wasn't, but I made brian rub gizmo's back in case he was throwing up again}. he stopped before i could dial the number - and i started looking through my books and the forums here for coughing and stuff. THANK GOODNESS, because he did it again a few minutes later and we knew he would be okay.

Monday he also started attcking his paper {we have paper in both the living room and a spot in the kitchen, because he can't always make it to the kitchen, and he will walk outside but won't GO outside yet - we are working on it, but he came to us paper trained already} It wasn't so bad at first, just some scratching - now he eats and plays and is obnoxious with it to the point i have to just pick up the whole thing. The problem with that is he still knows where the paper spot is, and goes before i can move him/take him out/get paper down. I'm at a loss on that one.

He takes a nap usually for about 2 hours starting around noon. he laid down today at about 10:30 {hence i'm typing here, because if he is awake i need to give him my FULL attention} and i don't know if i should be worried. The 2 hour nap isn't the normal "i'l tired, gonna lay my head down, but if you move i'll wake up and follow you" it is a "full on zonked out move me and i'll never know it" sleep. I guess part of me feels like i should be trying to regulate his naps as part of his scheduling.

I probably said an awful lot in this post that belongs every where else, in the future i'll post correctly. Oh, and, I will try to always use punctuation, but i tend to be irratic with my capitalization & spelling.

I have pictures in a flickr folder of Gizmo - not sure if i can post the link?

    Default pugtona's

I think the running lap thing is referred to as doing pugtona's, (as in the Daytona 500)
    They all do it!!!
It's so much fun to watch, isn't it?
Congrats on your new bundle of joy!

Oh yes, the laps are hysterical. Brian always says "time to take cover" and we get up on the couch or chairs... Thank you fo the congrads. He is sleeping so soundly, I think it is time for mommy to take a nap.

Puppies need lots of sleep, I wouldn't worry about the long nap! Enjoy it! the Pugtona is one of the best parts of owning a pug! It is soo funny! The reverse sneezing thing still bothers me and I know it's nothing, it just sounds so horrible. Welcome to PV and we can't wait to see pics of your baby!

Gizmo is adorable. Everything you mentioned sounds like pretty normal puppy behavior.

He is so handsome Hello and welcome to PV. Congratulations on Gizmo! I love when they do pugtonas, with their little butt all tucked in. Enjoy the site.
