Hi Everyone,
My name is Trish. I have a 10 week old pug named Black Jack. He is black of course and just adoreable. We got him about a week ago after our pug name Pete suddenly died.
We are pretty sure Pete died of PDE. We had never heard of the disease until the day before Pete died. He was a perfectly healthy young pug. He was just shy of two years. He was by my side all the time. He started acting different and in three days he was gone. I did a search on PDE and came across this site. That's how I got here. It seems like a great place so I thought I would give it a try.
The little pug Jack is great and does make me smile. But, I really really miss my Pete. I am sure in time it will get better.
If anyone wants to give some advice on how to get over this, I would love to hear it. I just never imagined that I would have gotten so close to a dog and feel such a great loss because of his death.
I don't have any advice, just want to welcome you with open arms.
Welcome to Pugvillage. I'm so sorry for your loss. I don't have any advice, but I do know that I would feel the same way if I lost one of mine suddenly. They're like our children. Pugs have such personalities and give us more love than anyone who doesn't have a pug can understand. It will get better in time.
I would love to see pictures of Pete and Black Jack.

I very warm welcome - Leslie said you found us through chat yesterday - that must have been a surprise to go searching for answers and find all these pug-mad people chatting away! I think Pete probably had something to do with that - he wants you to find peace soon and he knows this is the place that will help.
I think you have done absolutely the best thing in getting another little puggy. Never to replace Pete, but to help the healing and ensure the love and the joy Pete brought to your heart continues. Jack looks adorable and Pete looks as though he knew how much he was loved.
Now you have one, maybe think of another? Maybe think about a rescue Pug?
Check out the PugVillage Books - buy one from HERE and help rescue.

Thank you for your kind words. We do have an older mixed dog (Golden retriver and collie). She is a good companion for our little Black Jack. Who knows two pugs would be twice as much fun and love.
YAY Trish!!! I am glad you introduced yourself! You will see that everyone here is very nice (we are all a bit nutty also - especially Rona
- but that is the best part about the village).
I am sure others will be able to help you with your grief. Black Jack is adorable and Pete looks like he was a total love.
I know you probably logged on to chat last night looking for people who had suffered loss also from PDE and stumbled across all us nutty, chatty, girls - but you won't regret it.
Welcome to the Village!!!![]()

Hello and welcome. My heart goes out to you, so sorry to hear about Pete. He was such a handsome pug.
I lost my first pug very tragically around five years ago.. actually it will be five years on January 7th. A bit over a week after her death, my dad drove down and gave me Winston, who was then 7.5 weeks old. He was the BEST medicine for me. Instead of sitting around feeling sorry for myself, I had a bundle of energy to feed, play with and take care of. It helped. He was NOT her replacement, but he gave me something else to love. Time makes it feel better, but never makes it go entirely away. I still get teary eyed when I see Daphney's photos and her ashes.
