I was directed to this forum a few months back by a wonderful pug owner from another dog forum I frequent. I've lurked for a while, and figure it's high time to make a "proper introduction".
I am currently Pugless and eagerly starting the search for one. It seems that a Pug is the perfect breed for my mother and younger sister, and once I move out with my dog, I know they'll want another to keep them company. It just so turns out that we've all fallen for this special breed and can't get enough of them at the dog park. So what better idea than to add one to the family? As the designated "family dog person", it's officially my job to do most of the learning and searching. I am as of yet still unsure if we should go the puppy route, or retired breeding adult, but there's plenty of time for planning and thinking.
I was told that there is no better place than this forum to start learning about all things Pug, so I'm hoping to gain as much knowledge as I can. I have already found two or three breeders here in Oregon whom I am considering, and have even e-mailed some of them.
I am looking forward to being a member of this community :)
Oh, and if anyone wants to know, I do have a dog - an almost 10 month old German shepherd named Trent.
Pugs and Shepherds get along very well, I have both of the same breeds myself, or should I say had...I lost my pug last week, but I still have my 12 year old sable colored shepherd and we have a all white german shepherd who is absolutely beautiful I might add. We are having to put our 12 year old shepherd down but are waiting till after the holidays, so the white one my husband bought to take her place knowing this would happen soon.
Good luck on your puppy search!

I'm incredibly sorry for your loss - I read your thread in the "Paws to Remember" section. Cappi sounded like a wonderful dog.
I am very partial to the sable coloring. My neighbor has two sables, one of which is 6 months old, and the other which is 11 years old and still going strong. 12 years is a great age for a GSD. My own pup is a black/tan blanket back, and my guess is that he'll stay that way, though I know some eventually saddle out later on.
Welcome to the Village!
Another option is to adopt a rescued pug.
Thank you!
I appreciate your suggestion, and I am well aware of the adoption option and have volunteered numerous times at adoption events or at the Humane Society. I do agree there is no "pug shortage" in rescues and shelters currently. However, I hope everyone here can respect my decision to go with a reputable breeder who works to improve the breed and stands behind his/her dogs.
I am a strong advocate for adoption as well as for reputable breeders, and it is simply my own personal choice to go with a breeder.
