So we went for Hubby's CAT scan and Bone scan last Friday for his 12 week check for the clinical trials he is on. Today was results day and the news was not good. He is being removed from this trial as it isn't working for him. His PSA keeps doubling rapidly and his tumour & lymph nodes have grown larger. CRAP CRAP CRAP!!!
He is down to 3 options now.
1) Do nothing for now (not really an option).
2) Start chemo now.
3) Another Trial which involves chemo by itself or chemo in combination with an experimental drug. Completely random, he can't choose.
Doing nothing really isn't an option as his cancer is fast growing and we really don't want to get to the point where we have waited too long for anything to possibly work.
Doctor really wants him to start treatment (if he chooses to) as soon as he can. If he chooses the new trial he has to wait 4 weeks anyway to 'wash-out' his system from the last treatments.
The chemo is a bad one. Hair loss, nausea, mouth sores, fatigue, tingling and numbness......the works.
Hubby is pretty bent out shape about it all (me too), especially since he has always had beautiful long silver hair and a moustache and now he is gonna lose it all. No ifs, and, or buts about it. I guess our wedding pics will have him sporting a doo-rag.
So we are pretty bummed out today with this news as we were really hoping this trial was going to work for him. The Dr. didn't come out and say 'it' but his tone and body language were pretty grim.
Please keep my Hubby John in your thoughts and maybe throw a prayer or special thought his way.
Thanks

I'm so sorry!!!!
Which would give him the best chance????
Can he wait 4 wks for the trial? Would it be any easier on him????
My heart goes out to you!!!
Sending you thoughts of strength and love....Know that you'll make the right decision! Praying for good outcomes!
Just the chemo or the trials with chemo are still the same chemo and same dosage. The experimental stuff is supposedly well tolerated. Even if he chooses to not do the trial he will still have to wait approx 2-3 wks.

Sending prayers for you and John. I am so sorry, I would also pick what ever has the best chances for remission.

thanks. His cancer is too aggressive and too far advanced to hope for remission. At this stage our biggest hope is just to slow it's growth down for as long as possible.

Miracles do happen but I know one must be rooted in reality too.
Time is really the most precious gift.

Heartfelt prayers for John and for you. I'm so sorry the trial didn't work for him.
We never touch people so lightly that we don't leave a trace.
I am sorry. Sending prayers that the right decisions will be made and John gets better![]()
