    Default The Stud

Believe it or not, it's time to think about a Sire for Pudding.

I have 3 picked out and am studying the Pedigrees.

What questions should I ask the Stud owner i.e. How many times they copulate, what tests they do for sexual diseases as well as genetic diseases.
The price for stud fees or pick of puppy etc.

Educate me please, my head is so full at the moment I think I may forget to ask something important.

Default Get it all in writing

Get everything in writing, saves a lot of hassles in the long run.

Yes, it should all be in writing.....and you need to study the pedigree and know what is behind a dog. The stud may have good knees or hips...but back some ..there was a problem. They you have to decide if you're going to take the risk or not.

I don't like to leave my guys at all.....so..either I ship semen in or I do a drive and stay at a motel. I did stay with the stud owner for Isis's second litter for a night. Motels the other two nights.

Also....written that you get a repeat breeding if there is no litter...or 2 live pups etc....

If you're going for pic pup....write the sex if one is preferred.

    Exciting!!

Do I ask if the Sire has been tested for Canine Bruccelosis (sp)?

How many days before should he be wormed?

This particular dog is in Spain and I would go there with her.

How much is a Stud Fee, the price of a puppy or more???

But does he have prospects, dear? Can he hold up his end of conversation at the table, can he at least play simple piano pieces?

Ellen, He's an absolute Gentleman, bilingual spanish/english, immaculately groomed and well mannered. Has a very good work ethic... several BIS's, loves to travel throughout Europe. Being Brazilian has a body to die for.
I think she could do worse.
BUT there are other suitors in the wings, so he'll have to play his cards right to win her affections, she's not a loose woman

    The Bruccelosis test...I'd think yes.

Worming would have nothing to do with it, I wouldn't think.

    Has he produced litters???

Stud fees very so much!!! Ch. are a bit more...some are outrageous...and I refuse to pay it!!! Someone wanted $700 for a dog that was not finished and had not produced any pups!!! Crazy!!!!

I have spent 5-700. I cannot really afford to pay more....unless they would take money after I sold a pup. Puppy back is done....I've never done it tho.

Blonde is not a recognized coat color, and you will never be able to disguise the blue eyes. Princess is backing the Brazilian with the body to die for, although she is reserving her final choice until we see some pictures.

Just remember, now, that an A/I is frequently needed. It's sometimes not so easy to get a natural breeding
