Default AKC registering litter of unregistered parents

My cousin wants to register her pug and her litter, however she is unsure of how to do this if she is able to at all. Any information is greatly appreciated.

You cannot AKC register pups unless their parents are AKC registered.

Isn't there some other registry that just registers that it "appears" to be that they are a full, pure blooded breed? Not the same thing, of course, but I thought I read about something like that on here on time long ago.

Why even bother? Doesn't mean anything. Can you persuade your cousin to spay her pug?

Honestly, spaying the pug would be the ideal thing to do. If she doesn't have a show worthy pug, up to breed standards then she probably shouldn't be breeding. When she bought the pug, then she should have already come registered if she was even coming from AKC parents. Just because the dog is AKC, doesn't mean the dog is a quality breeding dog.

There is no registry, that I know of that will register a litter from unregistered parents, and there is no way to prove that the parents are even "PUREBRED", unless DNA testing is done. Even if one of the parents were registered somewhere, in some registry, if BOTH aren't registered, there is no hope of registering the pups.

I believe there might be other registries that accept any dogs...whether pure bred or not....for the money. To me, this is a waste of the owner's money.

If they are unregistered, they were not sold by a good breeder to be bred....and should be spayed.

Even though the original poster did not have enough posts to post in breeding section, I moved this here from the Meet and Greet section.

If you never change your mind, how can you be sure you have one?

The only way to register with AKC would be to get an ILP # I think it's called a PAL now. It's only important if they wanted to compete in companion events, and they must be spayed/neutered. Otherwise, no.
