Is there any difference between AKC and CKC? Is one preferred over another? Just learning more

I had thought that CKC was the Canadian Kennel Club...is it not...It is the Continental Kennel Club and registers anything.......does not have to be a pure bred...and does not have to have papers before!

Up here the CKC is the Canadian Kennel Club -- my response was going to be "the difference is the country!!". Did not know there was another one!

The CKC here in America, is, like Diane said, the Continental Kennel Club, one of many fly by night registries, that will register anything. Steer clear of anyone selling CKC registered puppies!

The only two legitimate registries in the US, are the AKC, and the UKC. Both of these are honest registries, and both hold competition events. There are dogs that are both AKC and UKC champions. Of these two registries, AKC is the most used, for most ethical breeders. UKC has done a lot to promote rare breeds, some of which have then gone on to get AKC recognition, also.

wow, I had no idea there was a CKC in America... this makes so much sense now when people have talked about CKC and how they'd never buy a dog that was CKC registered. I always thought they were just hating on Canada
