I am just so irritated by one of my co-workers. Co-worker "A" adopted a chihuahua mix puppy a few months ago from fellow co-worker "B" who got the puppy for his 11 yr old yorkie and of course it didn't work out and the puppy barked all the time so the landlord said either she goes or the you all go. So, co-worker "A: stepped in and took her since she had been looking for a dog for her kids. They are 6 years old and about 18 months. Little Asia went home with them and from what I hear has been nothing but a crazy unruly byper will not walk on a leash to save her life type of dog. Apparently she LOVES it and thinks it's cute and fun. It doesn't sound so fun to me. It sounds like an untrained unruly dog. I try to give her tips but it just goes in one ear and out the other.
So today co-worker "B" walks up and asks co-worker "A" how Asia is doing and if she has come into heat yet. Then co-worker "A" says: "No but we can't for it to happen so we can breed her and keep one of the little boys. It will be so fun to have a little boy too!" I was SO upset. I mean if she wants another chi mix she can go on craigslist or petfinder and look at the 1000's that are waiting for a loving home. Then co-worker "B" says : "oh yea that wil be so cute and sweet. You should try and wait until she is a year old or as close as possible." What?!
I was so upset since there are just so many animals out there waiting for good homes. We don't need anymore roaming out there unwanted. I thought about saying something but co-worker "A" and I sometimes do not get along. She is very confrontational and there has been more than one occassion when management has had to get involved. I don't know if I should say something or maybe just send her an email praising the benefits of spaying and neutering or send her to petfinder to look at all of the sad faces looking for homes.
I don't know. Maybe I am just being overly sensitive to the issue but I figured if anyone would understand how I am feeling, it would be all of you. That was my piece and I just had to vent for a minute. Thanks for reading and letting me get that off my chest.

Sometimes talking don't work, you need to show. If they are at all compassionate, they will look at it. C-worker A and B don't deserve any animals. They need to grow up first.
Try emailing her those sad litte faces that need a home.

Yes, you can send them emails of chi mixes looking for homes in your local shelter.
Other than that, you have to know that you can't control people and if you get too pushy with them you will threaten the work relationship and alienate them. You can also talk to them about rescue and suggest they might like to volunteer....other than that you are stepping out of your bounds in the relationship.
And yes, I understand how frustrating it is.
Take care,

they don't get it because they're idiots! I feel your frustration.....

I was going to suggest comprising an email also, with the faces and stories of a whole list of unwanted chi's and chi mixes... and THEN comment maybe that they come from backyard breeders and such who are so STUPID as to breed a puppy who is not even a year old and STEAL her puppyhood from her... how those too young dogs then become horrible mothers and the next thing you know they are also in the shelter because their irritation with their lives has been misunderstood... arrrrgghhh!!! I'm right there with you!

I feel your pain...
Every so often, some idiot will ask me if we're ever going to breed Lucy, because she's so adorable... Uh, no. That's why she was "fixed". Yes, she's adorable, but there are lots of adorable dogs that need homes. When people ask about puppies, I direct them to one of the rescues in our area.

I fear me an email of dogs needing homes will only fuel (a) the fire - she will go looking for a "stud" sooner, AND (b) your relations with her will worsen...
I vote: mouth shut, head down... and remove yourself from earshot if (and when - sorry) the topic arises... you cannot breath the air these people spew, you are so against their plans!

The president of the pug club near where I live, asked if I thought about breeding Missy. She had just been fixed and for that woman to come up and ask I thought was rude. Some people are just down right ignorant.
IMHO, what you said is correct. Most people are just unaware, not evil or stupid. There is just not enough emphasis in our culture regarding pet population issues as they are effected by BYBs, puppy mills and irresponsible owners. I'm not giving puppy mill operators a pass, that business is evil. If there is a hell( I'm not gonna get into that argument), there's a whole lot of people there with straw hats, funny accents and no cars.
