    Default Vet ?'s

I called my vet yesterday to schedule an appointment for an exam for Lucy and Palpation or a smear to confirm pregnancy.\
The vet tech advised against it and said she reccomends just waiting until 45 days for an ultrasound or 50-55 days for x-ray.
Am I overly concerned? I assume the vet would want to see her a few times during pregnancy to at least make sure she is doing well and not lacking nutrients. Vet says she is on a good diet and no supplements are needed. Is my vet too lax or is this common?

Since you have already bred your girl, please get as many books on reproduction and pregnancy that you can find and read up on it!!!! Also plan a week off before your girl is due....and at least 2 weeks off afterward (or hire someone to be there)

Ultrasound is only really good around day 30 give or take a day or two. Xray about day 57 if you're having a natural birth!

I would also contact breeders in your area.....and find out a vet that is good with c sections and understands the problems a pug might have!

    Good luck to you!

I do have a great Vet who breeds and shows Boxers herself.
She says we should be good for a Natural Birth but will be available for a c
-section if necessary. We may or may not whelp in her office, I have the opportunity to call her when the temp drops and bring Lucy in there and stay with her, but I am undecided as to whether or not that would be more stressful for her.
I have done tons of reading and have a pug breeding mentor.
I am just wondering what others do in regards to vet visits during pregnancy.
There is a lot of leeway into personal decision making as to how much you want to do.
I personally want a ultrasound but our vet says its not necessary if we're doing the x-ray...

I ultrasound to confirm pregnancy.....Don't want to up food unless there's something cooking in the oven. I carry my girl in when the room is ready and carry her out before paying.

That's the only time I go to the vet unless there's a problem.

Do you then x-ray to count spines. I know its not perfect but I want to know exactly what to expect and be able to count placentas etc. I dont want any retained that I dont know about.

Always planned c-sections? Isnt this harder on the bitch? I was worried about blood loss and recovery although I could opt for that.

Have you ever had an inconclusive US? or a vet tell you to come back again 10 days later?
