My Pug Lexie is expecting puppies in a few weeks, I am just really worried about how do I go about selecting good homes for the puppies? I already have 2 of the puppies going to good homes, I don't know how many puppies she is going to have yet, but the others, I know I am going to be really picky about who they go to. Does anyone have any suggestion on how to turn someone down if they want to purchase a puppy and I just don't feel right about selling them one?

I would contact a breeder in your area and see what advice they can give you. Also gut instinct should help!

I would first off ask people "what are your intentions for this puppy? You want someone who wants a pug as a family member, companion etc. not I want a dog to breed. Find out where the pug will be kept inside, outside, will it have the run of the house, how much do they work? what are their plans for the puppy when they're working? Does everyone in the household want a pug? Do they already have dogs, if so what kinds, talk to their vet too so you can find out if they properly care for the pets they already have. Many of these questions don't have one right answer, but you can really get an idea about people. There are so many things really, but you get the idea. I would also put together a contract requiring the puppy come back to you if they ever feel they cannot care for him/her, also sell on limited registration with a spay/neuter clause. This will help to deter people who only want a pug to breed from.
