    Whoooaa! One Thousand dollars!!!!!!! YIKES!

Are the dogs covered in gold? Ooops I see that one male is silver, that is strange I would DEMAND pictures of that as it is rare to find a real silver anymore. My ZuZu was supposed to be silver, and uhm I guarantee that she is not.

Here in Oregon I think that the highest price I have seen on a show pug is $700 and the pet stores want $900. So am I off base when I think that $1k is too much?

That is a spammer... they frequently use Yahoo groups to sell their wares... Spammers aren't always about sex sites, they hit every corner of the market. The moderator of that group should delete the post. That is what they do on a couple other Yahoo pug groups I belong to...

    Heather...forgive me for this....

We have a site here called www.crazyaboutpugs.com

It really urks me because they have pictures of pug pups and then a button that says "add to cart". Something about this really disturbed me.

    Shelly,

I don't like the add to cart thing either, and I guess that I have to come clean and say that his Keanus Little Captain is the male I am breeding Pixie to.

    At least I think anyway.

That site is just plain disturbing. The add to cart thing is awful. and that contract is ridiculous, now I've signed some pretty extensive show contrats, but no one should sign that thing! They give no refunds, and if there's a health problem with the puppy, it must be returned within 4 hours, what the heck is that all about? you lose all rights if you don't feed the supplement that they just happen to sell. My favorite part, if they feel you have mistreated/neglected the pug you're also responsible for all vet bills in the future. Now I agree anyone who abuses a pug, or any anmal fro that matter should be accountable, but this just sounds like manipulative language that could have someone paying all the vet bills for a puppy they no longer have. I mean what constitutes abuse, and who makes this determination? I've seen a lot of contracts, but this one takes the cake

One suggestion that I think will go towards slowing these people down is to report any emails, or newgroup messages like this to the provider of their email.

Most ISPS, and Mail Providers have an abuse email address you can forward them to. for example you could forward that to [email protected] and explain your reasons behind your complaint. One good reason is generally that they are using a FREE email account to run a business which is frowned upon. That should get the email address canned. Which is a start.

I am going to issue the commands to create a new newsgroup on the NNTP servers called. "alt.pet.dogs.puppyfarm-sightings" - perhaps if people use this to report these spams and scams we can make a difference.

It will take up to 30 days to create the group - but once done it can easily be taken on by your ISP's if you request they do so.

There is a newsgroup called ALT.PETS.DOGS.PUG which is available if you email your ISP. I created this a few months ago.

    Regards

    Richard

I asked to be unsubscribed from that group. Seeing that anyone would advertise their puppies on a website is just disgusting. It all smacks of money-grubbing, selfishness. Anyone truly breeding their pugs for the benefit of the breed would not cast such a wide net as the entire continental US...and outside of it. There is no way to guarantee who (what type of person) is going to get one of those babies, and on a buyers end...how could you pick a puppy based on just a picture?

    It's just maddening.

I totally see your point, however, when I am looking for a breeder, the first place I go is the internet. I believe that the internet advertising is an OK thing as long as the dogs aren't sold over the internet.

Could not agree more... it's also a good way of people getting to know the breed and the breeders associated with it.

Problem is though, there are a lot of "unsavory" people who think they can make a quick buck! or quid!?

The internet being an unregulated form of advertising can cause problems, and it's down to people like ourselves educating new potential owners of the breed what to look for in puppys, breeders and contracts.
