Default Lisa is done with her babies

My question is, is okay for her to quit nursing cold turkey? Will it hurt her?

Last night I put her in with the puppies and there must have been some of their food left over. Well, Lisa attacked the puppies over the food. I can no longer trust her with them.

They are 7 weeks old now and have been eating grewl during the day for a week now.

I know this is not ideal but Lisa has a history of hurting her puppies so I can't take any chances. I'm really upset about this but I can't risk them getting hurt.

At 7 weeks....she is done! I would pull her from the babies, and keep an eye on her teats. You may feel some hard pockets of milk and you will need to get a warm cloth and express them. You will also need to pull her food for 48 hrs. to get the body to stop producing milk. I like to use "bag balm" on my girls teats, keeps them soft and I think (what do I know) it gives them a soothing feeling. You can buy it at walgreens or walmart where the diaper creams and stuff are. It comes in a green tin can. If you can't find it ask the pharm. they will know what it is!

Kudo's for taking care of this girl when she needed it the most!

Yes ..Take her away from them immediatly especially with their history

At 7 weeks they can eat anything including dry food
At 7 weeks I would give them dry food soaked in warm water

Sounds like it's their time. That's around the time that Coley went cold turkey, too. Your puppies are growing up. Congrats! Umm, pictures?

It won't hurt them a bit... Pups can be weaned as early as 3 weeks and do just fine. At 7 weeks, they're really gonna do better on puppy food anyway, since mom's milk has been steadily decreasing in value over the last 2-3 weeks. Glad she has you to watch over her so well!!!
