Please tell my wonderful DH BREEDING is not for us!!

I am still taking cold showers in the morning because there is no propane to heat the water. Amazingly enough, the same money to buy propane could buy a spay job. My husband is truly furious at losing all that money. And he is right, we need to pay bills. BUT NOT THAT WAY. The animal spayed is a free born spirit, careless and savage. I work away from the house and so does DH. Who would guard the puppies. Puppies suffocate under mom, puppies are born with cleft palates and failure to thrive. Mom dogs can develop mastitis with all its attending horrors, (ever see blood stained milk?) and infections of the uterus post partum. If you have more than one pug, mom dogs steal puppies and ugly wars develop at the drop of a hat. My shallow, driven, mean hearted and too bright pug is not a pet, not a puppy generator but rather my friend and familiar. I would rather clean toilets with a tooth brush than risk losing my pug over a money issue.

Dang, girl, you could never be hated in the Village. You are admired for caring enough for your babies to take a stand for them. We LOVE you for that.

I went through the same thing with my DH. We have had some Himalayan cats that would breed and he would sell them for a pretty penny. That is how we were able to buy our first 2 pugs. Huron was neutered as soon as the vet said ok. Badger was 2 before he was neutered because DH wanted to breed pugs. I said NO WAY. Made the appointment and took him in. When we got Raven he said oh wow how cool to breed him and have a pug with ears that stand up. (I'm not kidding) I made the appointment then told him that Raven was being neutered BIG fight. I said fine I'll cancel. The night before his neuter I said who's taking him me or you? Fine. I took him. Willow is set for her spay on May 24. I will not deal with puppies. By the way our cats are all fixed now too. LOL!!!!! These pugs & Raven (boston/pug mix) are my babies. I refuse to put them through breeding. DH doesn't get it but he has let me have my way. Funny he loves these furkids of ours. He tells everyone that they are the best "dog" he has ever had.

Secretly change their appointment to a couple days BEFORE the marked day. Take them in, deed is done, he can't reverse it.

Nope I don't have to do that! Couldn't if I tried anyway I run day care, and he has to be here when I leave (there would be kids here by 8am and to pick them up around 4...I can only do that on his day off...BUT he knows Im serious, and Im not breeding, so thats nothing to worry about....CHINA HAS to go in that day to be fixed, HOPEFULLY SHE WON'T be in heat.....hasn't started yet, and I hope she will just wait a lil longer for Mom!!!!!

Ok good...I just wanted the village to know I didn't start this covo to get a frikken fire started at PV...I just wanted 'info' to pass on...adn Im like you guys..it's a touch sub with me too!!!!!

Oh Lord... I still haven't gotten over the pain of losing those two sweet little angels during whelping and I never left her side for the last 3 days, much less put her in a basement with a kiddie pool and best wishes...!!

There was the realization that nothing I did was gonna bring back the sweet baby girl, born so small and probably lost before Diva was even xrayed... And worse, the moment when I realized the 4th baby wasn't in the sack anymore and his feet were out but no head... Wondered if I could get to the vet before Diva tore herself to pieces trying to push this baby out.. She finally passed him but he'd been wedged in the birth canal with no oxygen supply for about 10 minutes (damned lunch hour traffic ) and it was just too late...

I don't have anything else to say.

Nope, you done good-yes, it is an incredibly heated subject but if one tiny bit of info that came out of this thread helped you in any way or perhaps helped him to see things a bit more from your point of view.... And too, don't forget we have a ton of lurkers-it's just possible that because you started this thread, a "oh, I think I'd like to breed my pug" lurker saw it, read all the info, visited the various sites and then reconsidered. You'll never know for sure, but it certainly could have happened..

I think we need threads like this. The list of what it costs to breed a pug is awesome, I am going to learn some of the information just so I can tell strangers on the street about how much it costs to breed.

I love my husband, but do I love and agree with every single thing he does or thinks? No. If I posted on this forum about some of those things, would he sound like the devil himself? Yes. Does that make him a bad person? Not in the least. I'm sure your husband is a wonderful man. And I'm sure he loves the pugs. And you.

Please leave the thread, and know that you have probably helped not only your pugs, but hundreds of others out there who read this forum but are afraid to ask.

I will leave this thread with a sigh of relief...Knowing I somewhere helped 'someone' if not maybe my Dh, with the NO BREEDING process, by opening this can of worms here....I appreciate all of you...and I commend the ones that DO breed.....Huge lovin hugs to you all!!!!!!!!!!!
