Default Please tell my wonderful DH BREEDING is not for us!!

Ok....this put a fire under me like no other when this subject is brought up (pretty often anymore)

Im GETTING BOTH girls spayed May 14th.

oK....Dh seems to think, these 'dogs' are just worthless, if you can't make bank on them...

His idea is to breed Zoe...and sell the pups from her...his idea, (WE) uh hu nope! WILL MAKE money out of her, and then (WE) can get her fixed...i SAID HELL NO!!

    1. I have no freakin expierence in breeding, and birthing...and

    2. You don't just BREED to make money, you breed, to better the breed, and etc....

    3. I would be a BYB cause I have no friggen clue what Im doing

    4. Im NOT putting my baby's life on the line..She's so tiny...even IF I did...and Im not breeding her anyway, she'd only have 1-2 babies, IF THAT.

    5. You LOSE money not earn it!

He thinks all will go well, AND I can just take her back and fourth to the vet for x rays to see how she's doing, and have the vet himself do a house call while she's in the process of giving birth....NOPE!!!!!!!!! and I can take Zoe to this man that keeps his pugs in outdoor kennels, (heated inside) and she will be okay..I was FURIOUS when he told me this...and when his dogs go to have them, he puts them in the basement and LEAVES THEM...and she does okay...

I was so mad I was crying trying to explain to him ALL THE DANGERS there are...I wouldn't dare do this..but If i WAS stupid enuff to breed her, it wouldn't be to this man, and she would NOT be thrown in a basement in a kiddie pool to have the babies on her own...

China can't be bred because of her medical issues....He mentioned Zoe, cause he don't 'like' her as much as China..I don't care what he likes and don't like...Im the one one with the brains in this subject!

FOR YOU EXPIERENCED breeders...PLEASE let him know the dangers there are to breeding!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And we are not capable!!! And these ARE MY BABIES...not his, I foot every bill for them, I bought everything for them, allthe vet visits.....it's my sayso not his to get them fixed/..now to him they are 'worthless' so be it!!!!they are my 'worthless' fur babies! Im capable of breeding her, but I won't!!! I got her from a BYB and I will be dammed If I will become one...and thats whaat I would be!

I will print this out and give this to him!!!!

    TY!

I realize this is a serious subject, and I fully agree with you, but the first thing that popped into my head was that your answer should be,

Kudos to you for sticking to your guns. They aren't worthless, they are priceless.

Some experienced breeders here can certainly tell you that by the time you total up all the vet visits, testing, etc, its not profitable to breed, and might be able to help you with the cold, hard numbers to prove that point.

1st off kudos to you to know you are not a breeder and said no.

    NO,NO, NO, NO.......

you are completely right no breeding, tons of people would ask me when I first got Vivian if I was going to breed her and I always said I didin't breed and neither is she, they never really knew how to respond to that one!

I think you know what is involved and putting your girls at risk is not an option.
Please keep up telling the hubby NO, let him read all of these post and make him read some of the other ones on breeding.

If someone can find the post of a woman last year who had a terrible time breeding and almost lost her dog, please post it, she was from the southwest somewhere I can't remember her name.

THANKS all for the replies....Im searching thru now for every thread of the horrors of breeding.....It don't make a diddly damn for him Im sure BUT, I can't get it thru his head....he's leaving the subject alone since the last arguement, and it's in MARKER on the calendar the day the girls go to get fixed!! I'm sure I will be posting worrying about them

All 3 of these dogs belong to me....they are MY choice...

Good for you. Let's hope he doesn't bring up the subject again, you can get them spayed, and that will be that.
