Hi friends, it’s Clayton from Malta! You remember me?? Last year my dog Ellie (black pug) gave birth to six puppies! Now I have just breed her again and she is two weeks pregnant (I hope!). From last year, I bought another female pug, this time a fawn one! Her name is Melina and yesterday she had the first sing of heat!! She is 1 year old and very healthy... do you think i can breed her now?

Personally I would never consider breeding a bitch until at least 2 years old. They are still puppies. If you are breeding for health and soundness how will you know what problems your bitch has if you breed her to early? I just could not imagine breeding my 12 month old puppy.

I usually do not breed my girls until they are older as I don't breed them until they are finished Champions.
It is my understanding that a girl should not be bred until they are at least 18 months old.....and are in their 3rd season.
Hi Clayton!
I'd say 3rd season too. Wish just had her second season and I don't think she is mature enough for motherhood yet. I think pugs are fairly slow to mature and it's nice to let them enjoy their puppyhood
