I have a one year old pug, her name is Melina! Last week I noticed some blood on the floor and I was really happy because I little baby had her first heat! But then something strange happened! She only had blood for two days and after that everything normal like before not even different in size! What could this be? With her I have Ellie, a two year old pug that was on heat 3 weeks ago and hopefully she is pregnant! Could this be something correlated?
It seems that for me, no one has time to reply!!![]()

Please don't be frustrated-- the weekends are slower. Some members only sign on from work, and I suspect many are out of town for Memorial Day weekend. I've never had a girl dog, so I know nothing. Sorry!
Edited to say: I just realized you're in Malta, so probably wouldn't have realized about the US holiday on Monday.

My take, although I have never had an unspayed female, is that heat would last longer than two days. I'd check it with a vet to be on the safe side. Is she peeing a lot - I mean really a lot? It could be a UTI (urinary tract infection). Penny had one and she leaked what looked like blood and had to pee almost every two hours. Same symptoms as human UTIs. As I said, I'd get Melina checked out.
And as lawpug said, please don't take the slow responses personally - the three day weekend has a lot of people missing.

If you think dogs can't count, try putting three dog biscuits in your pocket and then give him only two of them.

Friends are the family we choose for ourselves.
I would have her checked for a urinary tract infection as Nancy suggested. Please tell me you're not going to breed her until her third heat......

Thanks guys! Here in Malta we have different time and I didn’t know about the holiday
! No, Melina isn’t peeing a lot! She’s just normal! But I’m a little bit confused about this thing because I know that normally blood last about 10 days!
I'm not a breeder, but one of my breeder friends has told me about a "split season", where it looks like they are in season, it stops and then starts again. Hopefully one of the more experienced folks on here will have an answer for you.

I have 3 in tact girls right now and have had as many as 6 at one time, and they are all diffrent. Some bleed like they are dying others NOTHING. If her vulva is swollen she is in season and is not a heavy bleeder, if it is not swollen, you should get her to a vet for an exam.

Isn't one year old rather late for a first heat? I know very little about these things, but my Kimmy came into heat at 5 months, 2 weeks before she was due to be spayed.
Also, just curious as to why you want to breed your pugs?
