Good question. If the seniors are too old to perform maybe their swimmers are not up to the quality they used to be. I've heard a lot on this subject from breeders here. They say the quality of the pups from older Studs isn't the same as what they produced in their hay day. I have no opinion, I'm not breeding but it's an interesting thought to consider.

I think the quality of semen may well be down, but I had a litter sired by a very well known old man. And they were great.

    Thanks for all the responses.

I checked with the KC website (thanks Charlotte!) it says you can write to them asking for an exception to be made and they will look at it on a case by case basis.

The line is a very healthy one, so I figure she will have a shot at acceptance. Otherwise she will find somewhere that stores semen and (sadly) wait a number of years.

I guess finding an overseas bitch might also be a way forward.

We did a complete AI on our Ch Mo x Ch Fancy years ago... We got a microscope so we could test regularly before inserting to check viable sperm... Never got a natural breeding from the two... Had a litter of 7... Mo just can't get it either... Not sure about KC rules but it is done regulaly in AKC... I know some breeders who will only do AIs... Let me know if you need anymore info, any ...ummmm... details about what we did
