It has been my experience that it takes a very long time for the skin to switch back to pink. if it has been several months you have been feeding the Acana and you see no change, then I would switch again to another quality brand that does not use chicken as it is a common allergen. Some dogs don't tolerate potato well either, so playing with the food may help.

Well Yoda has been on Ziwi diet for 3 almost 4 months now, and his tum tum is still dark gray !! I honestly dnt wanna change his food brand, as the change in him, his inside of his tummy and his is incredible !! No smells, he's beautiful and healthy!! Should I try the salmon oil for a while?! Its fantastic to know this. His skin has been gray pretty much since we got him!

You don't necessarily have to change brands, just "flavors". But it seriously takes a long time to see a change. We had Kobe who is a dark apricot with black skin on Ziwi for probably 6 months before we started to notice his skin lightening, and he still is darkish pink with black splotches....

yes, shylah is pink except her belly & some splotches elsewhere. like her bum was pink but is now dark. i am on my 3rd bag of Acana now. so maybe 3 or 4 months ?
i love it ! her coat is shinier, & smoother. her poops are nice & hard, & less of it. before she was pooping like 4 or 5 times a day, but kind of soft. now it's like firm & maybe twice a day.
also, when she wasn't on Acana, she passed gas like you wouldn't believe. since Acana, she's maybe passed gas 3 or 4 times ?!?!
it's awesome. i would hate to switch brands. i am in love with Acana.
i am thinking of switching "flavours" to see if it makes any difference.
should i stick with grain free ? because Acana does have some grain or whole oats or something in some brands.

    i just did some research.
Acana has almost NO formula with no potato.
i am feeding her wild prairie now.
wild prairie is mainly chiken, fish, & egg.
    pacifica is mainly all fish.
grasslands is mainly lamb, fish, & duck.
all of these are grain free.
instead of grains it is a mixture of veggies & fruit.

the only other formula that would be suitable for shylah is lamb & apple formula.
but she is not quite 1 year old.
that formula is made specifically with low allergen protien & low allergen grains.
mainly lamb, steamed oats, & apple.
& this brand has NO potato.
as in low allergen it means protien wise - no chicken, beef or dairy.
low allergen grains as in - no corn, wheat, barley, or rye.

    hmm.

today i bought shylah the pacifica acana !
she liked acana wild prairie, but didn't go nuts over it. but always ate it.
today when i fed her acana pacifica ... she went haywire for it. she smelt it at first & then couldn't wait for me to put it in her bowl. then gobbled it up like that was her last meal. it was crazy. so hopefully maybe this will help her skin color as well.
