I have possibly a silly question but I want to ask anyway.
I've got a bit of a cold at the minute and I'm going to see Scooby again this Saturday. I just wondered, can dogs catch human colds?
And more specifically puppies, do they have lower immune systems like babies do?
I have no idea whether this is a daft question or not, but the last thing I want is my little one to get poorly. I am really excited and dying to see him again though, so I hope the answer is no! I guess if your dog is at home around you there is nothing you can do about it, but if I am visiting him I don't want to leave him with anything other than love and snuggles!
It might be gone by Saturday, but either way I'd still like to know :)
Thanks so much! x

WikiAnswers - Can a dog catch a cold from a human
From a (human) doctor who was on this board for quite a while, in answer to the same question:
No, influenza is a HUMAN respiratory disease (in some smaller children it can affect the GI tract, but not typically). Dogs don't get influenza, nor do they contract the common cold from people. Their respiratory tracts are too hot for rhinoviruses (the viruses that cause colds).

Thanks ever so much for putting my mind at ease, that is really good to know :) x
