I'm almost in tears every day I have to leave Oz alone...he hates being alone. I can't imagine what it must have been like. It's just sick that this goes on....and sadly we can't help them all. I admire your stength and courage...poor babies.
My heart is breaking for these poor babies Lisa please let us know how the pug makes out I am going to say a prayer for him and the other sweet baby
I thinK that IS a purebred pug. He is just so old, that his mask has gone gray with age. Poor little guy............he looks so hopeless, in the pictures.
The bloated belly on the maltese is caused by congestive heart failure. The bloating is caused by all the fluid around her heart. That is typical of heart failure. There are meds that can help her, if they deem her at all viable enough to try to save.

Today I cried too.
The pug is adorable; I hope he can find some happiness. And the Maltese too, if possible.

I wonder if the pug's food intake has been so sketchy that his coat was affected. I wonder what a good gentle furminator brushing would do for him. And some ointment for his eyes and goop in his ears.
Sitting here in tears, how sad. Thank you Lisa for all you do for the helpless.

An update today from Elizabeth. She has named the pug Jacob and the maltese Fatima:
Fatima, the Maltese is eating and drinking water okay. The blood test are okay – surprisingly. Her x-rays showed a mammary tumor and since the blood test are okay the doctor feels the inflammation might be sclerosis of the liver. She is expected to get an ultra sound today to determine if that is the problem. The doctor said she weighed 10 pounds yesterday and at least 4 pounds is water accumulation as a result of another problem and that is what we are going to focus on with her today.
Jacob the Pug mix ate and drank water okay yesterday and today. He has a heart murmur and blood test indicated a kidney problem. He will be placed on a special diet and meds for his heart condition and antibiotics for an infection he has. I’ll find out what kind of infection he has when I speak to the doctor again. I had to hang up when I was speaking with him due to an urgency at work.
They all spent the night at the doctors and I kept looking at my phone early this morning from the doctors that would only mean things didn’t get any better overnight and getting worse for one of them. Fortunately, that call never came. I would say Fatima is the most critical patient and hope she can overcome this hurdle. Jacob is serious but not as life threatening as Fatima. As long as we help stabilize his situation I think we will be okay.
The doctor will provide me updated information on them later today and I’ll let you know how they are doing. Thanks for all your help. Please keep them in your prayers.
Sincerely,
Elizabeth McRae
