    Default Please help me...

Please help me!! My precious dog (pug, female, 3,5 yrs old) is not well. I took her bath last sunday and after it she was so calm, only sleeping but she ate well and also drink water. In sunday night I saw that she has some ear problems, but the ears weren`t red and paintful. I monday she also shown some sings of ear problems. At tuesday morning she had some minor problems with her frontal right leg and I took her to the vet. He gave her some paint relievs injection and said to bring her on thursday evening. In wendsday she felt really good, but on thursday morning she wet her bed (she don`t do that EVER) and her last right leg was aslo painful (not on touch, but when she walks she "pull" them). So we went to vet, he took her blood and blood results show that Granulocitos are bit high, other are fine. Which, he said, indicated on some infecction or inflame. And he assume her problem is inner ear inflammation. He prescribes 5 day on antibiotics + dexamethazon. Yesterday, she didn` felt much better, and I also notice that her legs (on right side) have a bit of spasm and also the right part of her head. These spasms long for 30 seconds. Yesterday, my mother called other vet and he said that he susspect on PDE (Pug Dog Encephalitis). She didnt had any seizures (yet). Could that inner ear infection do that???? Please, help..

I don't know about that for sure...but I do know that inner ear problems cuz balance problems. Am not thinking there's pain....but I could be wrong!

She might have pulled something when you bathed her... or just jumped wrong. For a person it doesn't necessarily hurt right away...gets a bit worse and 3 days later it's awful! The fact that the pain meds helped her.....would support that. I'd ask for at least a few days or a week of pain meds...and then keep her resting. Sometimes it takes longer than that. I take my dogs to a chiropractor that treats dogs...but I don't know if you have that available to you.

The spasms could be muscle spasms or a form of seizure.

PDE is very scary! I sure hope that it's something like above!!

Sending thoughts of strength your way and healing thoughts to your Pug!

Spasms are just in one side of her body. Hope that `s not a sign of a PDE spasm...

I don't know...it could be from the muscle's spasming due to pain too. I'd try the pain meds.....can't hurt anything.

My Solo had some spasms...not seizures....but spasms with his front legs only....and it turned out that he needed thryoid meds...and has never had a problem since then!

There are so many things that can go wrong......

PDE is scary and she is the right age for it...but don't jump to any conclusions yet!

She`s on therapy antibiotics + dexamethazon, today is third day of therapy.. Tommorow I can ask for some pain meds.. I`m really so scary... If she don`t feel better in two days, I`ll go to do MRI on tuesday (big problem is because in my country there are no MRIs for animals!!!), so I would have to drive for 7 hours.. But that no problem for my little girl... Thank you for support.

As I understand it, an MRI will rule out other things....but you cannot confirm PDE!

You're in my thoughts and prayers!

Yes, I know. Some liquor from spine (or something) can confirm PDE. Hope it`s not, hope that`s only bad, bad ear inflammation. Also, I`m thinking that she should have be better tommorow afternon, after 4th shot of antibiotics. Vet told me that antibiotics needs time to show some results. Before she was sleeping with my mom, and byherslef jump from couch. That`s good, every step better is good.
Thank you all for support, we send you a lot of good and positive thoughts.
