I don't have any advice but wanted to say welcome. Poor little guy! He is cute! Hope you are able to sort out the issues he is having. It must be very frustrating. I think Buddy has allergies too (not as bad) because he was always scratching and biting his feet. I think the culprit is chicken, though we are still not 100% sure. Still working on it! Best of luck to you.

Well we decided to put him on a raw diet and start making his food ourself after seeing all the stuff that was in the food he was eating.. It had all kinds of allergens in it like grain, soy, four, by-products... and we just knew we couldn't feed that to him anymore.. So as of today we will start the raw diet treatment. My wife also bought one of those cones that goes around the dogs neck for him to wear just for a little while so he doesn't scratch his head or keep biting his legs like hes been doing. We also now believe that it IS a yeast infection that is causing his skin to turn black, so hes being treated with some antibiotics.. So hopefully we will start to see some kind of improvement here in a few weeks.. Thank you for all the help everyone has given us...

    Pogi is darling!
I think you will find his condition improves when you start feeding him a raw diet.

If it is yeast, antibiotics will aggravate the problem as they kill off the very organisms that keep the yeast in check. You need anti-fungals, not antibiotics!

Ahh right, that makes sense. So how would we do that?? Do we look for anti-fungal pills? My wife mentioned maybe using an anti-fungal cream, would that be ok? We are also researching online and we read allot about using Apple Cider Vinegar to help get rid of/control yeast infections? Would this work as well?

Use a mild natural anti-fungal product like white vinegar or witch hazel, wipe a cotton swab or cloth soaked in it over the dark skin daily for 10 days or so. The ph is wrong for his skin long-term, so 10 days on, 10 days off until the yeast is gone. If there is no improvement after 8 weeks, discontinue.
ACV is a good supplement to include in a dog's diet. The raw diet will help to boost his immune system in the long term, in the meantime give a double dose of kelp powder and fish oil in his diet. If he does not react badly to dairy products, then add a dessertspoon of plain unsweetened yoghurt to his dinner, if he has issues with dairy get hold of a probiotic and add that.

You get anti-fungal pills at the vet. However, if it was a vet that gave you the antibiotics (and I assume it was because they require a prescription), I would find another vet because they shouldn't have prescribed antibiotics for yeast in the first place - pretty fundamental knowledge for a vet.
