You mentioned that your pup rubs his hind & front ends on the ground sometimes--our female Pug does that when her anal sacs are bothering her (almost always!). She will lick her lips at the same time & go scooting on the carpet, or sit on her butt & spin around....Many Pugs on here have that same problem....Has the vet checked his anal sacs? Rugbysmom

Ok, so I finally got the results of the blood work and all came back "normal"...thank you, God! That was the most important thing I heard during the call because the rest of the conversation really irritated me, to be honest. The intern called me, not the regular neurologist I saw Sunday, with the results. After she said it all came back normal, she says something along the lines of we'll just "presume it's epilepsy and monitor him"...as if she was ordering lunch or something!! I said first of all, we never confirmed what he had was definitively even a seizure so I don't know why we'd focus on epilepsy. Then she starts spitting out what to do...if it lasts longer than 30 seconds, rush him to the vet...if it's more than once in 12 hours, take him...I mean, this is serious stuff here and I felt like I was talking to someone about the weather! LOL. Anyway, I called my regular vet and left a message for her to call me back bc I'm not comfortable with what I was told. I just want to go over it with her. I just had to share that experience here and vent! lol. Sorry for the babbling!

It's now Tuesday and since Sunday, no reoccurring incidents, thank God again!! I'm keeping a close eye though and just taking it day by day. So anyway, I thank you ALL for your thoughts and prayers!!

And Rugbysmom- it's not really that typical scooting that he's doing. It's more of the frontal area that he's rubbing on the ground. We've had everythng possible done to see what it is from stool samples, urine samples, blood work, neurological exam, anal glands cleaned...you name it- we did it! And nothing has helped. We've just come to the conclusion that something is just a little "off" with my boy- whether it be anxiety or whatever. And to me, that's OK, bc I love him just the same- if not more!! :)

So happy to hear the bloodwork came back okay!!!! This is good news!!! On the other hand, I don't blame you one bit for being irritated with the intern. Perhaps you could ask her to have the actual Specialist call you at some point? Your pup was taken there for a reason, and that reason was not to be dismissed. You're paying good money for their "expert" opinion.

Oh thank God! I have been thinking of you guys. To be honest, what your baby is doing doesn't sound like a seizure at all too me. Could be something neuro, but just doesn't sound like a seizure..and lord knows they come in many many forms. I had a patient once that the only way you knew she was seizing was she'd kind of smack her lips/roll her tongue.

Please be persistant. We had to go through a few vets till I found one I loved. I still stand by the fact that you are paying THEM..keep going until you are satisfied.

The rubbing thing..hmm..if it's in the front.how are her wrinkles?

Please keep us updated..will continue to keep you in my thoughts.

I spoke with our regular vet the other day and I told her my concerns about what the intern said- especially about the Epilepsy. She said that wasn't really
what we're focusing on and to call the neurologist who saw my dog and tell her everything so she knows to correct the intern. She also just said they blood work is good and to just keep an eye on him. So I called the neurologist this morning and am waiting for her to call me back. I too don't think it was a seizure. From what I'm hearing and reading, the description doesn't match. But like I've been told, I'm just watching him. All has been well (knock on wood) so far.

Thanks so much to all of you for your concern!! :)

There is a test and its only 65 dollars Pug Encephalitis <-- click here
Instead of spending 1000's taking your puggy to a vet to get MRIs and such try this its easy and worth knowing. Also you can do the test on a live animal.

That is not what the test is for!

It is really for breeding purposes. It helps us to breed healthier pugs!

Even if a dog tests NN (normal normal) it can still get PDE!

What the test does is tells us how to breed the dogs the best way possible..

NN can be bred to any pug.

NS should only be bred to NN.....Then will have NS and NN puppies.

SS should be bred to NN so that all pups will be NS.

They are looking for the other causes still. The American Kennel Club is putting up money for the research...and PDCA matches their money! It's a terrible disease!
